For round 167, an artist from London, I discovered a few months ago. This is one of her recent releases, with hints of The Cure - fingers crossed Aziya will do well!

 

Sounding like The Cure is a cheat code every time. Possibly my favourite entry from you to date!

That sounds … promising, Brer!

I was in London last week, and in HMV on Oxford Street, I noticed an intriguing album cover: Lady Blackbird's new album, Slang Spirituals. It intrigued me so much, I decided to have a listen, and I was blown away instantly.

 

Lady Blackbird is American singer Marley Munroe, who released her debut album Black Acid Soul in 2021, to critical acclaim. She has since worked with Moby and Trevor Horn, and is currently touring with Moby.

 

My entry for 168 is the final song on the new album. When I heard it for the first time, it was like she was singing directly at me, about me. She took me back to all kinds of places, good and bad.

 

Maybe it's not the most competitive of my entries, but certainly one of the most personal ones.

 

For round 169, here is Samantha Jade with a track from her new EP Love.Sick Vol. 2, released last August. Samantha shot to fame in Australia in 2012 when she won The X factor Australia; since then, she has released several albums, EP's and singles in her homeland.

 

Round 170 sees another R&B song for LookyLion, this time by Australian singer JACOTÉNE, who is just 18 years of age. Stop Calling is her debut single.

 

Round 171: A recent release from 2023 by an amazing artist who debuted all the way back in the late 1970's.
