December 26, 20204 yr I thought the Christmas Day TOTP was excellent. There is no reason the BBC could not make this programme weekly concentrating on a mixture of singles and albums charts. The national broadcaster should be providing a platform for all genres in music. It would also provide much a needed profile to many acts. Maybe not weekly with the chart as slow as it is. perhaps monthly?
December 28, 20204 yr Just watching this properly now - Joel Corey/MNEK - MNEK was dressed up alright, different to what he previously looked like. Celeste - beautiful performance, really like the track A Little Love Harry Styles Watermelon Sugar - what a album this has been for him, more mainstream but still unique. Lovely Jools performance! Clean Bandit - love how they always appear of TOTP - hope they get a bigger hit in 2021. Miley Cyrus - what a great live lounge this was, as Fearne said - she incomparable!! So unlike anything I normally like yet it was a number one in my PC in November. Like there’s less urban influences unlike other pop stars nowadays, makes her music sound different and fresher! Becky Hill - still a pity the song she performed but the performance was flawless Jamie Callum - heard this on the day itself and fantastic performance, great album! Dua Lipa - what can we say - the ultimate female pop star in the uk and world right now possibly? AJ Tracey/Aitch - only one big talent here for me(the former)! Ella Henderson - lovely! Why can she only star on dance features these days? Live Lounge All Stars - still love the original and this cover, it’s a brilliant song by the Foos and will be their biggest song and will be a classic for the rest of our lifetimes! Think this showed when a charity record is done well and they chose the right track that resonates it can hit the top spot like this! KSI/Craig David - nice performance even if I’m not into the song, could be top 20 in January again! Pretty cool how they didn’t reveal the number one, they coulda just made it up or cut and paste some crap! Lewis Capaldi - Lovely song but ‘Beofre You Go’ seems like a lifetime ago even though it was number one in January! Amazing he should have two hits in the top 10 of the year in 2020. Overall I would agree with the positive posts about the show, they did the best they could in the circumstances and I’m glad it was on rather than cancelled for the year. The performances and overview were great. Although the show wouldn’t work weekly I would love to see it have the old chart effect for artist who perform and left win British artists who would come on every single like Jamie Callum! They might even gain new audiences! Roll on New Years eves show!

In the 70s/early 80s they had a second Christmas special which was usually the #1s of the year, but it would usually be like the 27th or something. Then it was 2008 I think they started doing the New Years ones - mostly on NYE but one was on the 1st and one was on the 29th.
