  • Ok, I’m a bit of an insomniac, so I went down the rabbit hole. These are the only discrepancies that I noticed. I hope this helps some. I’ll try to find the appropriate links from Spice News or other

What the hell is this????

I totally didn't know about her remixing a Tove Lo song but will add to the discog list together with that Jessie Ware remix too!

Am I missing anymore remixes she has done professionally for other artists?

Do you have a short memory? You even replied in the original thread. 🤭

She also made a cool remix of Wannabe and played it several times, but it was never officially released.

I didn’t remember either. Who’d remember that bloody shit? 🤣

It's been commented by Simon, the MD for all their tours 1997 - 2007, on his instagram that the version of WOMAN we hear in the Before The Big One documentary, where they are rehearsing, is in fact his own mastered version of the original demo, and not the original version.

So technically we are looking at currently 3 possible versions of WOMAN:

  1. Original Biff Stannard + Matt Rowe demo

  2. Christmas in Spiceworld studio master

  3. Darkchild version (rumoured)

Interesting... Could be a cute EP they could release lol

I have added this information including the writing credits. Some of these I had no idea about and they point towards a more pop-oriented direction in 2000 before they pivoted to more r'n'b-pop in 2001...

I have a question @-Jay- as I saw that you mentioned you used to be a forum mod in the old Denden and you witnessed the shenanigans around the leak of the second album recordings. Did the Denden mods edit the tracks themselves to be sonically different or just things like length and titles? I know there is a lot of confusion around this and I dont find the thread on PopJustice particularly useful lol

It's been so long since I heard them that I'm honestly not sure anymore, but I think it may have been more to do with structure than than sonically, like shortening some songs. I could be wrong though!

1. American Sweetheart (demo) | Included in This Time German Promo CDr | Listen

2. Back In Your Arms | Included in This Time German Promo CDr | Listen

Correct album is The Sea.

I'm trying to get my head around some titles that are registered under the girls' names on ASCAP but that make no sense at all. Some of these are NEW!!!

Moyat Grad https://www.ascap.com/repertory#/ace/search/workID/884342394

This is Bulgarian for 'My City' but then, what song writen by the Spice Girls, Matt + Biff could be translated to My City???.... There is no listed performer either so I cant tell if this is a cover or simply a demo from the band that was then sold to a bulgarian artist/label and translated by never released?... how odd

Spice Girls GEM - Still Got It

This is the song that was mentioned to be recorded during the GEM era with Absolute. It was at the time mentioned that it was about to leak in some press articles, but it never did. Finally, it seems like it was registered on ASCAP, so we now have confirmation of it existing! https://www.ascap.com/repertory#/ace/search/workID/912293453

WASTING MY TIME (MISSING YOU)

https://www.ascap.com/repertory#/ace/search/workID/530566308

Obviously this is Forever's Wasting My Time but it seems like a working title for an early version of the song?... I never knew this title at all!! Will add it to demos list!

When You're With Me (Time Goes By) https://www.ascap.com/repertory#/ace/search/workID/532805251

Same as above! Seems to be an early demo/mix of Time Goes By

Spice Girls - Generation Next https://www.ascap.com/repertory#/ace/search/workID/880361914

Safe to say that this is a Move Over early version/demo.

NEW EMMA TITLES:

Emma's Your Lucky Night - This is new to me! Recorded with Absolute, which is wild?? I don't think I heard that Emma worked with them since the 90s and around the GEM era... certainly not as a solo artists so I wonder what era is this from??

Emma - Every Breath I Take https://www.ascap.com/repertory#/ace/search/workID/933134808

First I heard of it!! Same writing team as Take My Breath Away so I guess this would be an early demo from that song??

Emma - Letting Go https://www.ascap.com/repertory#/ace/search/workID/420781097

First I heard of this! It was writen with Biff so it could be from AGLM or Free Me era, can't tell... Any suggestions??

Emma - Time Stand Still - also registered on ASCAP same team she worked on some Free Me songs so safe to assume its from there. But never heard of this one before

Emma's demo Life's What You Make Of It was later recorded and released by The Divine Comedy, a British band... had no idea about this!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NsHbZnfFS4

Hi Mr X.!

It's been a while, great to see the expanded and ever-growing list. Thank you for the effort! I also see you put those titles from that Spice Circle post. Very nice haha.

Letting Go and Every Breath I Take are the only Emma titles I saw for the first time, I agree with you the later could be an early title/demo of Take My Breath Away. Could Your Lucky Night be from the Life in Mono era though? How many songwriters did Emma engage with during that era? Time Stand Still from Free Me seems about just right.

I also am wonder about that "Leaving the Party" rehearsal video from Geri's 2017 Insta post, is it a cover or a new song written by Geri herself? Have we heard it in studio form anywhere in any media from Geri herself?

Thank you for your comments 😉

I have no idea about the Your Lucky Night/Absolute track, it seems quite random to be honest and it doesnt fit into any of the eras producing teams we know she worked with... and why would they register it?

Two theories:

AGLM: Since they are more pop-r'n'b producers, I would asume they worked with her on A Girl Like Me sessions maybe?

GEM: Maybe, just MAYBE, she also recorded with them during the GEM sessions and this came from it? Who knows... just that it is the only link with Absolute post-Spiceworld that we know of!

I also find it really odd that we have no idea of any Absolute demos from the Spice and Spiceworld eras at all, besides what was released?... that sounds really odd to me.

There's got to be some unreleased Spice era demos from Spice, among the 35+ unreleased tracks (estimated by Mel B) they are definitely in those. For Spiceworld I'm not sure, but I definitely think it's less likely we have proper unreleased demos/full songs from them. In the Viva Forever documentary the Absolute guys does said they record songs while simultaneously trying to pick doll heads, I could imagine they were fighting for time and couldn't get much done. The only way we would know is if they somehow decided to register them in the future.

I wouldn't surprise if the song title is really just for solo and could be from AGLM, I can see Emma go back to Absolute to try a new sound for the album in the 2000s during the group's hiatus. I mean Geri absolutely did when she left. And so does GEM a decade later. I hope it won't be too long to get to hear "Still Got It" one day. But I'm not sure also about if it's for Emma's solo in 2015-2016? Did the 4th album project started that time?
