December 4, 20205 yr Ah more great memories from 1973 when Wizzard were trounced by Slade and poor Elton didn't even make the Top 20.
December 4, 20205 yr 'One More Sleep' must be Leon's only source of income these days. Well look how much Noddy from Slade makes. Half a million easily every year from one song.
December 4, 20205 yr Ah more great memories from 1973 when Wizzard were trounced by Slade and poor Elton didn't even make the Top 20. 'Step Into Christmas' is the perfect example of how an xmas song can be enduring even if it doesn't chart high the first year.
December 4, 20205 yr 'One More Sleep' must be Leon's only source of income these days. I figure Bleeding Love still gets played around.
December 4, 20205 yr 'One More Sleep' must be Leon's only source of income these days. And for the majority of all the artists with Xmas songs :D
December 4, 20205 yr So the chart runs of xmas songs show this year we are getting an extra week in the top 40 for most.
December 4, 20205 yr 'Step Into Christmas' is the perfect example of how an xmas song can be enduring even if it doesn't chart high the first year. Yes that's very true. The Waitresses is an even better example. Edited December 4, 20205 yr by CHRIS-TMAS
December 4, 20205 yr So the chart runs of xmas songs show this year we are getting an extra week in the top 40 for most. At least!
December 4, 20205 yr And for the majority of all the artists with Xmas songs :D Probably one of the reasons record companies advise them to make them.

The British Hit Singles & Albums stated that Rea was "one of the most popular UK singer-songwriters of the late 1980s. He was already a major European star by the time he finally cracked the UK Top 10 with his 18th chart entry; The Road to Hell (Part 2)". As of 2009, he has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. In the U.S. he is best known for the 1978 hit song "Fool (If You Think It's Over)" that charted No.12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent three weeks at No.1 on the U.S. Billboard Adult Contemporary chart. This success earned him the Grammy Award nomination for the Best New Artist in 1979. His other hit songs include, "I Can Hear Your Heartbeat", "Stainsby Girls", "On the Beach" (U.S. Adult Contemporary No.9), "Let's Dance", "Josephine", "Driving Home for Christmas", "Tell Me There's a Heaven", "Auberge", "Looking for the Summer", "Winter Song", "Nothing To Fear", "Julia", "Working On It" (Mainstream Rock No. 1), and "If You Were Me", a duet with Elton John. Two of his studio albums, The Road to Hell and Auberge, topped the UK Albums Chart. Rea was nominated three times for the Brit Award for Best British Male Artist: in 1988, 1989 and 1990. The book Guinness Rockopedia described him as a "gravel-voiced guitar stalwart". - Wikipedia Top 100 Chart History 1978 30 Fool (If You Think It's Over) -1- 1979 44 Diamonds -1- 1982 65 Loving You -1- 1983 85 Let It Loose -1- 1983 60 I Can Hear Your Heartbeat -2- 1984 65 I Don't Know What It Is But I Love It -1- 1984 86 Touche D'Amour -2- 1984 78 Ace Of Hearts -3- 1985 26 Stainsby Girls -1- 1985 67 Josephine -2- 1986 69 It's All Gone -1- 1986 12 On The Beach -2- 1986 79 Hello Friend -3- 1987 12 Let's Dance -1- 1987 47 Loving You Again -2- 1987 67 Joys Of Christmas -3- 1988 73 Que Sera -4- 1988 11 Driving Home For Christmas -NAS- 1989 53 Working On It -1- 1989 10 The Road To Hell (Part 2) -1- 1989 83 That's What They Always Say -2- 1990 24 Tell Me There's A Heaven -3- 1990 69 Texas -4- 1991 16 Auberge -1- 1991 57 Heaven -2- 1991 49 Looking For The Summer -3- 1991 27 Winter Song -4- 1992 16 Nothing To Fear -1- 1992 31 God's Great Banana Skin -2- 1993 53 Soft Top Hard Shoulder -3- 1993 18 Julia -1- 1994 28 You Can Go Your Own Way -1- 1996 77 Girl In A Sports Car -2- 1996 41 'Disco' La Passione (Chris Rea & Shirley Bassey) -1- 1997 44 Let's Dance (Middlesbrough FC feat. December 4, 20205 yr Surprised 'Driving Home For Christmas' wasn't re-issued in 1989 as he just had a top 10 hit with 'The Road to Hell a couple of months before it. Also 'On The Beach' was a top 10 hit in 1988 so mhe, who knows, mustn't have had airplay or something!!
