March 27, 20214 yr England looked ok tonight, despite what the media tell us I still feel our squad lacks a little. I think lack of experience on the big stage will catch us out eventually, But deary me the quality of international football is lacking right now. Struggle to see how we're favourites for the Euros for example. Anyway on a different note, very hard to read in tonights game. I can see why Southgate was so keen to bring Bellingham in - that lad has talent. He is going to be some player. Yeh he’s unreal, he has certainly put a lot of training in since I saw him play for Birmingham last year!
March 27, 20214 yr Ireland are absolutely dreadful. Fully deserved their loss tonight. The fact they brought on Brady, McClean & Shane Long just shows the state of their team at the moment. Those subs haven’t been any good for about 5 years!

I suspect Kenny will get sack, but Ireland's problem imo is to do with grassroots. I never buy the argument that everyone wants to play Rubgy or Gaelic football instead :lol: The FA need a vision, clearly there is a problem at grassroots level and the funding and subsequent coaching. I don't think it's any surprise that a lot of English players coming through are far more technically gifted than their counterparts 10 years ago. Of course, there is a long way to go before they make the grade but there are zero technical players even playing in the lower leagues! Secondly, they have to get better as persuading players not to play for England, I feel it's going to be easier in the future for certain players as already there are players who can't get a look in who would walk in to the Irish team.
March 28, 20214 yr Yeh a bit like Che Adams playing for Scotland the other night. I agree you can’t blame it on competition with other sports. Rugby isn’t played on the streets like football and it’s only the posh schools down south and the state or Protestant schools in the north that play Rugby. But there is a hint of truth in the Gaa factor even if you can’t lazily blame it for everything. Gaa permeates through every part of social and cultural Ireland in a way you would only realise if you lived there it’s basically church-school-pub-Gaa Club which is the structure of rural ireland(and everywhere is rural except Dublin and Belfast compared to England. I’m not even sure Kenny will go as they have got a long term vision and haven’t the money to pay Chris Hughton yet who would be the next obvious choice. Just don’t have the players. I would personally prefer 11 players who are born in Ireland to start than any expats even if some expats have been amazing for us. Just think they all pick us for themselves rather than wanting to play for the country like Rice and Grealish!

Pope cannot play with the ball with his feet and is a mistake waiting to happen. Our defence are no where near comfortable enough to play posession football, Maguire constantly looks a rabbit in a headlight when pressure gets to him and he can't play a pass. They're obviously being told to play in a certain way as Walker, Maguire and Shaw all got caught out on the ball too long at different times today. Major problem England had today and will continue to have is in midfield.. I don't think Henderson will be back for the Euros, or if he is, he won't have played much football. If Southgate is going to persist with two more conservative players, Rice and Phillips is about as bang average as you can get. Phillips plays the easy ball every bloody time, it's so frustrating to watch, I'm all for a bit of recycling posession but it's painful to watch.

Kane is a guaranteed starter so that means only one of Sterling/Rashford/Sancho starts unless they play at wing back. And I suspect Grealish/Foden are likely to play in the wing rather than centrally too.
