It's kind of sad times that a Spotify #1 with 325k suddenly seems relatively healthy :lol: but wow, this sudden explosion for Olivia is really unlike anything we've seen in quite a while. One would assume she is still unknown to the large majority of the casual audience so those numbers still have room to grow a lot more, can see her being absolutely miles ahead at #1 by the end of the week at this rate.

 

Probably the most unexpected Spotify #1 (at least as of a couple of days before it got there) since... Dave's 'Funky Friday' at least?

Impressive figures for this Olivia Rodrigo person, I’m not going to pretend I know who she is though :lol:. Quite a nice song, she sounds like a more charismatic Tate McRae.
Also would be poetic Olivia going number 1 now they announced that it's basically illegal for a learner driver to have a lesson atm :lol:

Literally never heard of this chick before today, but fair play to her!

 

I've yet to hear the song, although comparisons to Billie Eilish and Tate McRae aren't exactly filling me with optimism.

I've heard the Olivia song and my initial comparisons were with Phoebe Bridgers over the others artists mentioned! Really enjoyed it on first listen~

 

The incorrect grammar in the title though is what we hate :/

Just gave Olivia's song a curiosity listen and I just don't get the hype for it AT ALL :/ I mean I can see its appeal and I can hear the Lorde/Tate McRae comparisons but the bit I don't get is why it's blowing up as quickly as it is doing.

 

And yeah that missing apostrophe is bugging the hell out of me already :(

Just did the exact same thing - not something I would have given a second thought to if not for the hype - not a fan at all and cannot understand why this out of everything has become so popular seemingly out of the blue? Especially in the UK.

She has promoted everywhere and she just can’t get any sort of hit anymore.

 

I mean she’s not promoted everywhere and I certainly don’t see her getting dropped anytime soon, I wish she would as she’s so bloody marketable and would benefit on another album but with the right song and right strategy she will be fine!

Drivers License reminds me of Birdy a bit. I love it already. And always exciting for someone to suddenly smash from seemingly nowhere, though looks like her profile has actually been building for some time.
