I really think the trajectory of Olivia is something hard to understand

She really exploded on streams in a way I'ver never seen before considering she was an unknown artist with zero Spotify support

and got over million with relative ease

 

at that point many in here were predicting she could even beat Bryan Adams record

I was very skeptical about that but I really thought she would hold better and wasn't expecting her to drop from over a million so quick

and drop to ca.600-700K especially when then Spotify was finally giving her crazy playlist support

 

I really like the song and the success is been huge and unprecedented

but at the same time I thought she was gonna hold on better and wasn't expecting it to be that frontloaded

 

 

I’m not sure anyone will beat that record in the ACR era tbh!

I think it's definitely possible but you need to be looking at a lining up of necessary factors to work out. What Olivia's done is great but at the same time, she's done something like what could be the equivalent of 10 weeks at #1 in the space of 3 (I don't know the exact numbers I'm lazy), which doesn't necessarily bode well for still being on top so far into the run, though it does mean that if she hits a more stable equilibrium in a month or so, she could be primed for the important art of ACR dodging. But in reality I'd expect it to be taken by an unassuming nothing song akin to "Head & Heart" that just sits on high streams for so long but without the credentials of mass media attention to peak it mid run. Incidentally I noted myself at the time of Dance Monkey's reign in Australia that it would theoretically have been hit by ACR as soon as it finished its 16th week (of 24) at #1.

 

(Of course I still don't see Bryan Adams' run as 'the' record over Frankie Laine because consecutive weeks just don't strike me as significant, especially now in an era of whatever is big in December is inevitably disrupted for a few weeks for seasonal oddities, meaning there's only really 8 months of the year in which a feasible run can start).

Of course:

- it takes nothing away from her phenomenal success

- she's still beating everyone else by miles

- when you're at that ridiculous level the only way is down

- she may well stabilise once she reaches a more "normal" level

- all in all it's really nothing for her to be concerned about

 

Yet I was still a tad surprised. That's all.

What drop from 1.2m did you expect? Did you think it was going to drop 10k a day, doing 20 days over 1m.

 

It's drop was exactly as expected, it had massive unsustainable streams and it's now down to being at the level of being a massive hit. I'd expect it's trajectory to be just like that now of a big hit a gradual decline to a level where it will just plateau.
