Do we have anybody else here, who prefer “Earthquake” over her main hit “Remedy” ?

Edited by Last Dreamer

The singles released before the album were all exceptional (though I have to include the Fred Falke remix of New In Town which is loads better the original) and I still listen to them occasionally now but the album wasn't something I went back to often, quite disappointed after that - Symmetry was the only one I particularly liked that I'd not heard before its release.

I was a big Little Boots fan in 2009. It was a great album. I enjoyed everything except Hearts Collide.

I also liked Headphones and Broken Record.

'Remedy' was overplayed to death but I'm starting to enjoy it again now, I was so sad 'Earthquake' flopped completely. 'Stuck On Repeat' remains my favourite by far.

I loved 'Shake' but I kind of lost interest after that and everything since passed me by (I wasn't even aware she'd released a 3rd album until recently). I'm trying to keep up with the new stuff and I'm quite enjoying it, although it's not blowing me away.

Was quite a fan of her 3 releases in 2009. 'Remedy' of course is great. Kinda forgot 'Earthquake' despite liking that and charting it at the time but it didn't do anything sadly!

She's still releasing music now too as a recent song was just entered to BJSC.

Loved her debut! Haven’t kept up much since I have to say but I was aware of the song that was entered into BJSC
They obviously tried to push her into the Lady Gaga mold with Remedy and it didn't quite work because she clearly wasn't that type of flashy pop star - I think the low-key thing she's currently doing is much more flattering to her talents to be honest. I guess she could stand some more success to make it all more viable - is she still doing the ABBA shows?
Didn’t Remedy go top 5 though? It just dropped off a cliff after that. Not sure what would’ve worked better as a third single.
What was the song that was entered?

Crying On The Inside which came 18th last week.

Peaked at #6, chart run 33-14-10-{6}-6-7-10-13-14-24-26-30-40-50-70->15. 'New In Town' didn't make the top 10 though and dropped fast even from where it reached there.

Ah so it was New in Town - Remedy - Earthquake? They must have done something wrong for her to flop like that. Maybe putting New In Town up first did it. Her music sounded similar to Le Roux etc. Wasn't she predicted to be YUGE too?
I think she was on a tipped to do well list in 2009 of some kind yeah. She could have done with having a bit more continuity success outside of just two singles really.
I think people didn't connect to New In Town, which took the wheels off. Record labels were still drop happy then too.

'New in Town' got 3 weeks in the top 15 which isn't bad going.

I'm not sure what went wrong to be honest, the only thing I can conclude is that she was perhaps never destined to be anything as big as the hype placed upon her and she just happened to get really lucky with 'Remedy'?

She seems happy enough with what she's doing now though, so I think it's fine. She got chewed up and spat out very quickly by a big machine and I'm sure that experience would have left a lot of people feeling bitter.

The issue is that they clearly wanted to launch her as the "UK Lady Gaga" and that was just not the kind of artist she was ever going to be. She always struck me as looking painfully uncomfortable with everything going around her with the "machine" and I suspect that it put off a lot of people (well, me at least). Had they marketed her with more of an "indie"/Saint Etienne vibe she might've had more consistent chart fortunes (thus cultivated a more loyal following), but also probably would've never scored as big of a hit as "Remedy".

Tbh, yeah, she did look super uncomfortable!

Y'all remember what was called the battle of the flopstars, when Nerina Pallot said she couldn't believe what had happened to Little Boots, comin back with mauldin music, after her debut album of dance bops?!
