I absolutely love this track. I don't understand why it has a video though. Was it a scrapped single release?

The song is nothing special at all but its bmbmnot the worst on the album either, has a bad song at eurovisiion vibe to it.

Back to You - another song I can’t really remember, but it’s lovely! It gives me 80s PWL vibes - I could imagine Kylie recording it for her earlier albums.

Yes it does have those vibes and wouldnt have sounded out of place on Kylies debut or enjoy yourself

I think this definitely could have been a strong single choice! Certainly my favourite album track here. It was brilliant that they performed it on the 2017 tour. Bop!

It's an album that I will always enjoy listening to so I really enjoyed thus listening party and thank you for hosting.

I will check that out in a mo. I'm currently listening to the original version of Stay With Me which is a female-fronted melodic rock song from the 80s. I was led to it by the YouTube comments as I didn't know it was a cover either :lol:

Stay with Me - well, I prefer this more than the two H solos. I agree there’s a slight Eurovision vibe to it (in terms of 90s Eurovision). Actually, I could imagine an early 90s Celine singing this sort of song too. 🤔 I think it’s pleasant, not hugely memorable, but a nice enough album closer. Doesn’t really feel very Steps sounding.

 

Overall this album is a bit of a mixed bag and I think they chose the singles wisely. Only Love U More seems like a missed opportunity to me, but they were wiser to move on and release Love’s Got a Hold on My Heart.

I didn’t know Stay with Me is a cover either! It seems that Steps (and their team) have always liked to raid the archives for songs that Steps can cover and make their own. I think they’ve got better at that, a lot of the songs chosen for Tears and Future feel to me like Steps originals!

I honestly like that they choose to do (for the most part catchy) covers. It means spending less money for a start which makes it a less risky investment and secondlyz it gives some songs a second wind!

Yes! My opinion of Neon Blue is actually changing..not actually sure if that's a cover but listening to it now, it's a very modern take on what a steps song sounds like.

As far as I know neon blue is original, I think it's a brilliant song and one of my ultimate steps songs from both old and new material.
