Posted June 1, 20214 yr The lead single for PSB's fourth album is out later today! It's the follow-up to 2017's fantastic 'Every Valley' and the equally good 'White Star Liner' EP in 2018. I'm very interested to see what the theme for this album is! @1399666089328627716
June 1, 20214 yr Not surprisingly, I'm looking forward to hearing this! They've been teasing us with their tweets for too long
June 1, 20214 yr Author Very groovy, quite an unexpected sound for them! The album is titled "Bright Magic", more info on that coming in the morning.
June 2, 20214 yr Fantastisch! The song is very Kraftwerk, isn't it? The album is released on 24 September, my birthday :D
June 2, 20214 yr From one of Brighton's finest record shops an album in three parts (building a city / building a myth / bright magic), it is their most ambitious undertaking yet, bringing you to europe’s heart and de facto capital, the cultural and political metropolis that is the ‘haupstadt’ of the federal republic of germany – berlin. Now I have to hope I can get to a Berlin gig as part of their next tour

June 2, 20214 yr added to my itunes basket. Well that year went by fast, it was only a few weeks ago you were doing the 60th Birthday UK Number Ones rundown :o ! The years go by very quickly when you’re old, don’t they? :(
June 4, 20214 yr Ticket booked for Brighton. At the moment, it will be my first post-Covid gig at the start of a fairly busy few weeks.
June 13, 20214 yr Ooft, an album about moving to Berlin to write an album about people who move to Berlin to write an album. Meta! Sehr gut!
August 3, 20213 yr How dare they use a band name with the same initials as the mighty Pet Shop Boys. (I will give their new stuff a listen at some point). Edited August 3, 20213 yr by Mangø
August 3, 20213 yr How dare they use a band name with the same initials as the mighty Pet Shop Boys. (I will give their new stuff a listen at some point). Thankfully, they deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Pet Shop Boys. Working together, they could come up with something truly wonderful.
August 3, 20213 yr Author Ahh this one is so good! Though I do miss when they'd use archive recordings/documentaries and turn them into music.
September 25, 20213 yr I didn't have time to listen to the album yesterday, but have put that right today. What a masterpiece  I didn't think I could love them more than I did already, but I have been proved wrong. Can't wait to see them next month.
September 25, 20213 yr This is a band I have never had a chance to listen to to get into for whatever reason over the years, prob doesn’t help that radio 1 never really supported them much for whatever reason (prob small label) but 6 Music love them!
September 25, 20213 yr This is a band I have never had a chance to listen to to get into for whatever reason over the years, prob doesn’t help that radio 1 never really supported them much for whatever reason (prob small label) but 6 Music love them! The support from 6Music has always been invaluable. They were never likely to get much airplay on daytime Radio 1. They seem to be happy with that and have never made much of an attempt to change it. I got my copy today in Brighton's biggest independent record shop. They said that it had been one of their biggest sellers for years. Strangely, the song being played when I entered was Billie Eilish's No Time To Die. It made me think that PSB could probably come up with a fantastic Bond theme with a suitable guest vocalist.
August 5, 2024Aug 5 Having just finished reading a history book Berlin, I thought it was a good time to listen to this again :D Much as I love The Race For Space, this has to be their best album so far. Let’s see whether I still think so in a few months’ time.
