Born This Way definitely was inspired by Express Yourself imo, in terms of sound and content. The latter was a female empowerment song at a time when there weren't many around, Gaga took those themes and created a version for the 2010s for the LGBTQ+ community. There's no shame in it, they're both great tracks.

There's no shame in it, I just don't think the songs sound alike, and I never understood the comparisons or the fact that Madonna took off her heels to throw so many shades for a young artist at the time. Immature for an established artist, she could have ended the problem by calling Gaga or meeting her in person, but instead she wanted to promote herself on top of this controversy, as she has always done throughout her career.

Babylon is clearly a modern day Vogue  But that eas done on purpose. Express Yourself was an accidental clone of Express Yourself. It probably shouldn't have been the first or even second single.
Check again. Katy has the record with 6 #1s. It does not matter that it was a reissue, as it is still the same album, as the record clearly states.

It's clearly not the same album as Billboard said.

Babylon sounds like Rescue Me, Not Vogue, and Born This Way* doesn't sound like Express Yourself, which is a copy of The Staple Singers' Respect Yourself. Also, Born This Way was the right choice to start the era. The song was and still is huge, but she should have debuted the song at VMA 2010, she missed the opportunity not performing any songs on that occasion, as even her fart would hit #1.

By debuting Born This Way at the 2010 VMA, she would have saved the 2011 Grammy to debut The Edge Of Glory, and so the album would have two #1 hits back-to-back.

I'm really not convinced on the idea of 'Hair' being a fully-fledged single, great as it is.

The song would work, believe me, as a third single, it would have been another #1 hit.
