I think Tartford are probably safe but not sure between the other two.

post appropriately enough aged like milk (inc.)

'La Vache' was my favourite retro entry (7th in my ranking), the qualifiers from the retro batch are definitely not the ones I'd have predicted, thought Tartford and Singerpurear would have had a much clearer shot than Suedeonia! Great to see the other 2 both through anyway, both fab electronic entries.

And it’s POPHub who are the last qualifier from Semi Final H, returning them to the final. Ojnoj didn’t make it out of the semi-final, finishing 29th with 19 points.

Now onto Semi-Final Z, where there are 6 qualifying spaces and 6 non-qualifiers for the 12 songs left.

Kluminican Republic and Fljótavík were my 8 and 6 pointers, respectively, so both are big losses.

I guess 10,000 Luchtballonnen really captured a moment, I didn’t think Ushuaia was so far inferior that the act should go from one side of the scoreboard to practically the other :o Buffalo was just rather lovely, the sort of thing that I spent most of the 00s listening to.

Numayania didn’t make it out of the semi unfortunately, finishing 26th with 33 points. 6 Qs v 5 NQs.

They are:

Aelandor

Altyr Muunilinst

Cor Lupus

D’yermak’er

Dobago

Hushkanukia

New Lexico

Séyetana

Summericia

Wholune

Zanmatony

Start predicting combinations if you can xx

Yes at POPHub qualifying!! Sad to see Ojnoj out though as I think it is a decent reggaeton entry here

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure

Jojo takes its heroes across the world and through time as it spans the generations of the Joestar family through, well, bizarre adventures, gay poses and classic rock references. At this stage of the results, who needs elaboration? But it’s a favourite and great for helping the gender balance of these characters as most of its good ones are male.

Cor Lupus gets the wielder of Hamon ‘energy’ powers Joseph Joestar, Wholune gets sidekick (and beast of a man) Koichi Hirose if only because he’s a little ‘shy’ when first introduced. The other two are from part 5 of the anime, set in Italy: Dobago gets Giorno Giovanna who uses the special power Golden Experience (named after Prince), and New Lexico gets the very Italian Bruno Bucciarati – who might resemble the thumbnail of the lead singer of La Rappresentante di Lista.

Two have made it to the final, two are non-qualifiers. Which two?

Thank you ladies, gentlemen and gentlethems for your votes! You like me, you really like me!

OMFG OF COURSE IT’S JOJO

Not feeling good about my chances again but if Dobago doesn’t go through...

In is Cor Lupus, at great relief to Cody I'm sure, out is Wholune. Wholune finished 31st in the semi with 14 points. Sorry Whoddy!

As we all knew x (good stuff from Cor Lupus)

The Wholune song definitely went in a weird direction that I wasn't expecting from the names involved with it and sadly not in a particularly good way but at least it'll be memorable I guess xx.

Dobago is out, finishing 23rd in the semi with 37 points. Which means that New Lexico is through and free to Italianise the final up!

Onwards.

Much as I don't like to see Dobago continuing their DNQ streak that was definitely the right outcome there, a great entry from New Lexico and unfortunately can't say I was into this Dobago entry at all.

School-Live and REC

Let’s just say it’s beautiful that Aelandor ended up in Semi Final Zombie and leave it at that. Yuki Takeya from School-Live is a representation of a ‘broken hero’, living in her own mental delusion, and she definitely writes a letter at one point, tying it to a balloon and letting it fly. Not quite as emo as the guy who wrote this song but close enough.

For Summericia, REC is a short anime from 15 years ago about two young strangers ending up cohabiting through unusual circumstances, the girl, Aka Onda, is an aspiring voice actress very much associated with the colour red. So, ‘Red Button’.

One in, one out. Both are on a DNQ streak that started with the (completely unjustified  ) failure of their anniversary entries a couple of months back. Which one has broken that streak, which one is going to continue it?

Summericia sounds like the more likely entry but I'm equally loving both!

Aelandor is unfortunately out, not even my nepotistic 12 respectable and legit emo-loving 6 points could save them as they finish 25th in the semi with 34 points.

Which means Summericia is through and back in the final. Congratulations to Roba!

Did well to go this long without losing any of my semi-final votes but Aelandor was my 5 pointer, sad times. </3

My Hero Academia, Mirai Nikki and Clannad

Collecting the miscellaneous shows, we come to Clannad for Hushkanukia, which could have fit on either the KyoAni section or the Key section earlier but because Clannad is in that unusual situation of being BOTH, I saved it for later. The character is Akio Furukawa, a young and caring father of one of the main characters, and one of the best father figures in anime.

Mirai Nikki contains Yuno Gasai, the ultimate yandere (‘sick (as in, twisted) lover’), and while her temperament is a bit off for D’yermak’er’s ‘Unlove You’, the sentiment of not real love sort of is. Meanwhile My Hero Academia has Asui Tsuyu, a literal frog girl, so the natural choice for Zanmatony’s ‘Frogbass’.

Two qualifiers, one non-qualifier.
