You do really hate the woman don't you. What's she ever done to you? Baffles me. I mean I disliked Ryan, Graham and have no time for Adam but wouldn't say I hate them like you do Martha. Saddens me in a way when she's doing what she sees as her best. Am sure she wouldn't KNOWINGLY make bad or wrong decisions about the Doctor as it could be relationship suicide.

I think Martha went through more shit than most companions, and that's why I have admiration for her. The Doctor barely looks twice at her, but she's still heroic, she's still keen to see the universe, and she doesn't think twice before putting herself in danger. She had to put up with the Doctor in human form, and the general racism of the time they had to live in. She had to put up with being sent back in time by a weeping angel, and having to get a job to support her and the Doctor until they got the TARDIS back. She walked the Earth to save the Doctor (and the world) from the Master. Then she left, on her own terms, because she realised she deserved better. Martha's f***ing amazing!
Martha has no personality, mopes after the doctor, and adds very little to the series! Tenant's big personality doctor just completely overshadows her, as do the companions before and after!

If you think Martha has no personality, you can't have been paying any attention!! Martha is level-headed (we learn this within minutes as she successfully navigates family drama via several phone calls), smart (as proven numerous times within her first episode alone), adventurous, kind-hearted, determined... there are so many descriptors that clearly indicate she very much has a personality. As to adding very little to the series, Martha adds a huge REALITY CHECK! It takes series 3 for the Doctor to learn to move on. He learns the hard way, by Martha being there and then removing herself. Martha's impact allows the Doctor to quit moping after Rose, and it paves the way for his relationship with Donna to blossom in series 4.

I can understand not enjoying Martha as much as Rose or Donna, that's fair and everyone's welcome to their own opinions, but some of the criticisms coming Martha's way don't even fit...!

The problems with Martha aren’t to do with her character but the fact she came after Rose. The Doctor’s infatuation with Rose means she doesn’t get her proper chance to shine - despite having to put up with a lot more (e.g. the Doctor turning human and walking the Earth in apocalyptic time again without the Doctor!). The only episode where she’s allowed to be a proper full time companion is 42! For episodes 1-6, it’s a just one trip thing then afterwards you have the Doctor being human, a Doctor-lite episode and then a three part finale where she leaves. Even in 42, she’s separated from the Doctor from the majority of the episode and gets cast off into a blazing sun!!

I voted for Martha but I’m happy to swap to Bill if there’s a tiebreak tbh

Both are excellent characters honestly. I wasn’t a fan of Martha for years and it wasn’t until i rewatched the series last year that I gained a new respect for her. She grew arguably more than any other companion during just one year on the show (and a few extra episodes I suppose) and went through a lot in such a short amount of time. (I started typing a lot out then realised it was basically a rehash of what Joseph & Klaus said x)

Bill was great, she didn’t really have any flaws. I think she brought out the best in Capaldi’s doctor too. I suppose my only issue with her is that she didn’t stay for too long but part of me thinks a big part of that was that they wanted a new start for the new doctor

I also kind of agree with previous statements about Jack and Sarah especially about them not really being companions for more than a few episodes. Sarah was incredible back in the day but in the grand scheme of things she was just a cameo in Tennants run

If no one comes forward, I would disregard the votes. Can you check ro see the poll, see if these are new accounts voting, etc??

Why? Maryha Jones and Captain Jack are still in it...

In thr last episode, Captain Jack had a long, soppy, 4 min conversation with Jaz, and it eas really boring...

Martha is top tier for me I don’t really get the hate for her. I can agree that Captain Jack in the latest series has been lame but back in the day he was a great addition to the team IMO.

It’s not that I dislike Bill at all, she was a great companion. I just like the others more.

But Bill has a life outside the doctor and a personality...
