Do you think it was a mistake not to release love fight as a single, and do you think it would have been a better choice of single than so under pressure?

This is a tricky one.

I love the song to this day and I would have liked to see it get the single treatment.

Would it have done much for her? I'm not so sure in hindsight. She wasn't in a very favourable position by this point, with each yearly single showing diminishing returns and being deep in the download era which didn't help her chart positions and also Radio 1 no longer supporting her it was frustratingly hard for her to really get anywhere regardless of what the single was :( (As I imagine it would have been for anybody in a similar position)

This situation was so weird though, in mid-late 2005 'Love Fight' and 'I Can't Sleep At Night' were both mooted to be her next single before 'Perfection' came along ('I Can't Sleep At Night' even has a video, which leads me to believe they might have actually scrapped that in favour of 'Perfection')

Both "Love Fight" and "I Can't Sleep At Night" are superior to "Perfection". All Around the World Record really screwed her singing career.

Totally support your comments.

Both songs were so superior and it was extremely poor decision making.

Love Fight should have been a single , this track created a buzz.

Too much time passed between YWFAM , Perfection and SUP.

AATW had no idea what to do !!! However Dannii needs to also take responsibility she had been in the game too long to let this happen.

I Can't Sleep At Night was indeed scrapped in favour of Perfection. I can see why though - Perfection is more instant and the instrumental had reached number one on the club charts.

Love Fight was never slated to be a single. The suggestion to try and make it a double A-side with I Can't Sleep At Night (since that had a video + remixes already made) were floated around. Personally, I think Love Fight is horrible and I would've rather seen Dannii snatch K-Llo's track Nobody Like You since that was also cancelled as a single:

The vocal and lyrics to perfection are terrible.

Adds nothing to the track.

ICSAN - is not better !!!

Gone however is a tune !!!

I appreciate 'Perfection' now a lot more than I did at the time, I only bought it when it was released to support her.

'I Can't Sleep At Night' is definitely a stronger track though.

I don't think this would have done very well either, not because of the quality (AMAZING song), but everything was working against her at that time. So I don't think anything would have smashed.

Still want this on Spotify so badly as well :(

Perfection I was never big on as I just find it a bit bland, scrapping I cant sleep at night for it was a bad call.

Perfection lacked memorability.

The sad part of these songs we are talking about is how quickly Danniis music popularity peaked and declined in such a short space which shouldn't have occurred when she had songs such as the devine Love Fight and I Can't Sleep at Night to follow up the successful Neon Nights singles but both failed to receive the single treatment in favour of much inferior songs.

I do agree its a shame how quick things went downhill after neon nights, but i suppose dannii has often suffered simply by signing with the wrong label, it was at the point hits and beyond was released i was probably more of a fan than i ever was of her musically, and as i said before i genuinely was expecting hits and beyond to do more, i know when i listened to it first i went straight for the new songs and was super excited about love fight and was like this just has to be a single.

AATW was a bit of a bizarre choice in hindsight.

Ultimately they're a dance label that dealt with dance acts for one single rather than nurturing an artist in the long-term. The only example I can think of them managing an artist successfully for any period of time is Cascada.

I don't know why Dannii signed with AATW, Kylie could've gotten her into Parlophone at that time.

At that time parlophone would have been a good label for dannii, had she been with a good label and recorded and released during her x factor stint she really could have capitalized on all the exposure.

To be fair, how many labels were interested in her realistically?

Sure I Begin To Wonder was a big hit and she had a couple of top tens, but ultimately, Neon Nights did probably underperform. If the higher-ups at Warner wanted to keep her they would've just transferred her London contract to another sub-label.
