That’s not quite right! ‘Star Treatment’ got to #21 and ‘One Point Perspective’ got to #26.

I should probably have read wiki more thoroughly before posting 🤣 Did seem a bit odd....

Four Out Of Five opened and peaked at #18 but I honestly feel the singles chart is much more open to indie/alternative music now compared to 2018. They also strike me as the right sort of act to have a hit blow up on TikTok which helps these days. I would say it's within the realms of possibility that they could have their first Top 5 single since 2007!

Anyway, regardless i'm very much looking forward to hearing new music from them.

In fairness the singles chart positions for the other two songs were just by default from the first week album streams (and I am sure a new Arctic Monkeys album will still be a big enough deal to get 3 free top 40 hits next time as well whether or not anything becomes a proper hit) - 'Four Out Of Five' was the only one of the three that was actually a single. Although that didn't actually translate into it having significantly more longevity than the other tracks lol, it had a whopping 4 weeks in the top 100 compared to the other tracks having 2 weeks each. And then the second actual single didn't make the top 100. It was not exactly a commercially friendly album though so pretty much to be expected - I think they have the potential to get a bigger hit again if they come back with something a little less leftfield than that last era.

With Helders comments about linking into the sound of THBC while going into a new direction I'm kind of still making my mind up whether to be terrified or ecstatic for this album.

If they make the prog rock epic that THBC was screaming out to be then it could be a landmark album, if they just use more pianos and then add some of their older more down to earth lyrics from their earlier days over it it's going to be naff. Of course there's a lot of good middle ground between the two.

They're headling Reading/Leeds next summer so I'm assuming the new album will be out before then.

boo thats the worst for me, when artists tour after a while and don't play anything new

what are they afraid of? if they play newies live, it's not like it's the studio version,

people are gonna buy it anyway, if something it encourages fans not the other way around

guess they're too big

all my little favourite singers/band play newies/unreleased all the time on tour

even Phoebe played a newie the other day in London....
