Posted August 28, 20213 yr Hey Friends Who do you consider to be the most influential female in pop music history? think artistry, music videos, fashion, music, lyrics, volume of work, contributions to society and pop culture, trends, hits and charts, etc etc..
August 28, 20213 yr I hate to be obvious, but I have to say... MADONNA Her Blond Ambition show paved the way from many future tours and showed what you could do with a live concert setting Her music videos have been a talking point for most of her career, from teenage pregnancy in Papa Don't Preach, religion in Like a Prayer, sex in Justify My Love and Erotica, politics in American Life. She pushes every boundary. Apart from the controversial ones, Express Yourself, Vogue, Ray of Light, Frozen... just a few of the masterclasses in video making she has done. Her fashion is also a continuous talking point - Once upon a time, every little girl in America wanted to be her. The conical bra, the gothic look. She's had missteps, but she's stayed a very strong talking point. Her whole body of work through the 80's, 90's, 00's - the amount of "iconic classics", such as Holiday, Like a Virgin, Material Girl, La Isla Bonita, Like a Prayer, Vogue, Frozen, Hung Up. She opens her mouth and talks about anything and has "absolutely no regrets". She may not be the force she once was... but Madonna is the female pop star, in my opinion and I don't think anyone can deny her major place in pop history.
August 28, 20213 yr Oh for absolute sure Madonna she is the blueprint for what a popstar should look like to this day Honourable mention to Donna Summer for her revolutionary strides in the dance genre
August 29, 20213 yr Yeh Madonna is the obvious answer, probably Kate Bush if your going down the more indie pop genre!
September 3, 20213 yr Madonna all the way it's not a discussion. Honourable mentions to Cher and Diana Ross though as I'd say Cher was the original Madonna in some ways and Diana Ross was certainly the blueprint for Beyonce.
