Good ballads are always in fashion even though they are not mainstream all the time since current pop TRENDS don't favour them. Perfect, All of Me, Shallow, Drivers License, Hello, Someone You Loved and whatever that second Lewis Capaldi hit is called, Easy on Me. There are plenty of recent examples.

I do wish Joy Crookes was doing better with her new material then!

To be honest I think people are missing the biggest difference between Adele and Ed and everybody else. Absolutely all of there appeal is musical not about being young sexy things - a rarity even when these artists came through. There's no reason a current artist couldn't replicate that but it's obviously gonna be hard for them

You keep putting Ed and Adele in the same bag, Adele just did 2.8 million, Eds latest barely opened with 400K, even Bad Habits opened with 500-ishK

Looks like my universe might have a chance at rebounding into the top 5 this week with the album boost, it’s already out peaked what it debuted with on Spotify by over 30k plus its now climbed into the top 10 on Apple

I mean typically Adele is more frontloaded and Ed sustains his figures for months. Ed Sheeran has 4 of the top 20 most streamed songs of all time on Spotify so if anything it's Adele that's out of his league on this platform.

Yep, Adele is even way above Ed. And many people find Ed just irritating but let's not go there, we've done that so many times here :P

Adele is in a league of her own. While we’re at it, she’s way way way way way above Gaga.

quite a big decrease of 1.1m in the U.K. and 6m worldwide but that was to be expected

Yeah, but today’s numbers are still very very high obviously. It was clear that she wouldn’t be able to repeat yesterday’s numbers, I think?

Still impressive considering I was expecting 1.7m on her first day!!

obviously she was not gonna do 2.8 million again

actually 1.730 million on day 2 is all kinds of incredible too

When we were young is down to #10 with 266K

Love in the Dark is down to #15 with 227K, could be top 40 even on ACR but Someone Like You is dangerously close

also on Apple:

16 +5 Sam Fender - Spit Of You

really hope it goes top 40 come Friday

Ah Jaysus!

Obviously Cold Heart’s thunder is well and truly stolen but impressive to see it doing 490k yesterday, well ahead of Shivers (which is holding up well itself) and on track for another streaming increase in its 10th week.
1,729,543 is still the 10th highest one-day Spotify streams ever, with the other 8 (after Adele yesterday) being for Christmas songs.
