Reigning NBA champions the Milwaukee Bucks crushed the Brooklyn Nets 127-104 on the opening night of the league's 75th anniversary season.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was the most valuable player in last season's finals, contributed 32 points and 14 rebounds for the Bucks against one of the pre-season favourites.

Meanwhile the Los Angeles Lakers lost 121-114 to the Golden State Warriors.

LeBron James scored 34 points and Anthony Davis added 33 in the defeat.

Stephen Curry's 45 points, including two late three-pointers, helped the Golden State Warriors continue their winning start to the season as they beat the Los Angeles Clippers 115-113.

Curry's long-range shot gave the Warriors a one-point lead with less than two minutes to go.

The 33-year-old scored another before Draymond Green sealed victory.

Russell Westbrook was ejected as the Los Angeles Lakers blew a 26-point lead to lose 123-115 against his former side the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Lakers led 56-30 during the second quarter but the Thunder hit back to take a 97-95 lead at the third quarter buzzer before staying clear.

Westbrook recorded his first triple-double for the Lakers since joining in August but also had 10 turnovers.

He was ejected late on for a second technical foul.

LeBron James returned from injury to score 26 points as the Los Angeles Lakers ended the Cleveland Cavaliers' three-game winning streak.

It finished 113-101 as the Lakers recorded their third win in four games.

Top-scorer James, who has missed the last two games because of an ankle injury, also finished with eight assists against his former side.

Fellow star Carmelo Anthony added 24 points - including six three-pointers - to play a key role in the victory.

The Lakers trailed for much of the game before taking the lead late in the third quarter, holding Cleveland to just 16 points in the fourth to seal the win.

Pre-season favourites for the title Brooklyn Nets overcame a slow start to record a 105-98 victory over the Indiana Pacers.

Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant was ejected and James Harden registered his 59th career triple-double in a 117-91 victory over the Detroit Pistons.

Durant, who scored 23 points, was punished for an elbow to the face of Kelly Olynyk late in the third quarter with the Nets already 17 points ahead.

Harden produced 18 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds.

Elsewhere, a Carmelo Anthony-inspired Los Angeles Lakers cruised to a 95-85 win over the Houston Rockets.

Los Angeles Lakers fell to their fifth defeat of the season, losing 105-90 to the Portland Trail Blazers.

The depleted Lakers, who were without star player LeBron James because of an abdominal strain, lost Anthony Davis after just seven minutes with illness.

Donovan Mitchell scored 27 points to help the Utah Jazz beat the struggling Atlanta Hawks 110-98.

Five players reached double figures for the Jazz as they ended their two-game losing streak.

For the Hawks, who were in the middle of four games on the road, it was a fifth straight defeat.

Champions the Milwaukee Bucks also returned to winning ways, as Giannis Antetokounmpo starred in a 118-109 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.

The former MVP finished with 31 points and 16 rebounds as the Bucks ended a two-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, the Hawks are now 4-8 for the season after extending their losing streak in Salt Lake City.

DeMar DeRozan and Lonzo Ball both hit season-high totals as the Chicago Bulls beat the Los Angeles Lakers for the first time in nine matches.

DeRozan scored 38 points while Ball added 27 in a comfortable 121-103 win at the Staples Center.

It was the first time the Bulls had beaten their Californian opponents since November 2016.

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 47 points as reigning NBA champions Milwaukee Bucks claimed a 109-102 win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Greece-born star scored 28 first-half points on his way to recording his best scoring figures this term.

Khris Middleton also moved level with Ray Allen on top of the Bucks all-time three-pointers list as they won for the first time at home since 19 October.

Reigning NBA champions the Milwaukee Bucks recorded the largest half-time lead in their franchise's history as they routed the Orlando Magic 123-92.
The Los Angeles Lakers suffered a triple overtime loss to the Sacramento Kings, beaten 141-137 for their fifth defeat in their past seven games.

DeMar DeRozan scored 13 of his 29 points in the final quarter as the Chicago Bulls edged to a 111-107 win over the Brooklyn Nets.

In the battle of the Eastern Conference's top two sides, the Bulls' Zach LaVine top-scored with 31 points.

But it was team-mate DeRozan who inspired the Bulls to their second win over the Nets this season, making six of 11 shots in the fourth period.

He has now scored a league-leading 178 points in final quarters this season.

feel like there has been a lot of hype but things will be back to normal at the end of regular season.
