If there were no prostitutes in the world,not one,what would the needy men do then? Some need it outside marriage or are too shy to get a girl normally.If there were no men using them they couldn't do it could they? There'd be more rapes if prostitution vanished overnight.

I know driving my car is dangerous, at high speed I could suffer a mechanical failure or hit a bit of black ice and die, should my mother talk me out of using a car and help me ? people who walk in the dark particularly females and particularly late at night are taking risks, should their families help them ? everything in life is risky and prostitution is no more risky than any other aspect of life

Wasn't saying that every man who visits prostitutes is a potential rapist but some may be if there was absolutely no other way.

I wouldn't, adults have to take responsibility for their own lives and choose their direction in life and what path it would lead, one of my nieces is going to be 16 next year and already her ambition is to join the military in the future and that would possibly mean being on the frontline in Afghanistan or Iraq if that happened and a good chance of being injured or even killed, my sister is concerned about her safety but accepts that it is her life and what she does with it is up to her

Can tell you don't have kids. I'm sure a parent would not sit by and watch their daughter be a prostitute. It's not the same as the army. You keep comparing it to milkmen etc, but it's selling yourself for money! Does that not seem bad to you?

Prostitutes merely provide a service though, I and others have said about rape etc it is an important service, sex for some reason is considered a dirty word but at the end of the day none of us would be here today were it not for it so sex is a natural thing in life so if there are women that provide it and get paid in return I don't really see the problem with it although I have no intention of procuring one again.

According to the reports, a lot of the parents in this case didn't know their daughter was a prostitute. It's probably something they wouldn't want their parents to know about.

 

Most of the prostitutes in this case are indeed women who went off the rails at some point and got caught up in drug addiction. As has been said, whatever you think of prostitutes and whatever situation these particular girls got themselves into, they don't deserve to be murdered. I hope they catch whoever is doing it soon. From what has been said it sounds like the enjoy the 'power' they might have from taunting the police or whatever.

my parents were watching this morning and an opinion was it should be like in Germany and have more special zones set up where the women (and men) are safe with medical facillities etc. as you will never stop the sex trade whatever you do (see also university fees thing esp in France that are so high that students are becoming sex workers too, not just drug addicts) and this might also keep a track on the sex trafficing too

 

also my mum was going on how about how it was awful how the mejjja was going on and on about prostitues, having the word prostitue splashed across the front page sensationalizes things and has negative word associations where they should have been just put down as 'women murdered in Ipswitch', women first, the fact of prositution second.

I don't care what these girls do for a living - to me, it's 5 innocent women slaughtered for nothing.

Legalise it, let's be grown up about this, and have supervised safe houses for the girls to operate from. It's 2006, there's patently a desperate need for these girls, and it's ridiculous to still have them walking the streets, where they upset locals and tend to tarnish an area's reputation. Take them OFF the streets and have specially set-up safe houses.... it's safer for them and better for the locals who are sick of being accosted by dodgy men crawling the kerbsides.

 

I hope someone, somewhere has a heart and rings the police about these murders - as with the Ripper, I simply don't believe that their partner or family can possibly not be aware of the acts their loved one is committing. It's up to everyone in Ipswich to be 110% vigilant and to check the behaviour of friends, family, neighbours and colleagues.

I wouldn't use one and never have but what's wrong with it if men want to pay and women accept money for it? It should be fully legalised,in safe houses,all girls checked etc,not picked up in cars.It's the oldest profession in the world remember.Not all are on drugs either.Probably the majority are.Some see it as an easy way to make a lot of money.
