November 3, 20213 yr I don't understand why literally all other artists promote their stuff but Gaga has been terrified of promoting her albums since ARTPOP. She makes time for everything in this world (a cosmetic line that puts out new products every week, acting in movies, hosting the biggest online festival ever created etc) but refuses to do the slightest promotion on her albums. We are not asking her to perform in 100 different countries or shoot 40 videos for the songs on the album, we are asking for a promotion based on current music industry standards, she didn't even have to leave home to promote her albums properly if she wanted (but with her useless manager, I can't expect otherwise). The pandemic was never an excuse either, I can list for you at least 30 artists who continued to promote their albums and singles despite all the restrictions the pandemic imposed on us, Katy Perry was everywhere singing songs from her album at the height of the pandemic and being PREGNANT (that's what I call strength) while Gaga only cared about shooting new photoshoots for her beauty brand or going out to dinner with her boyfriend. You can't deny any of that even if you wanted to.
November 3, 20213 yr Author On a side note: I think that bizarre and creepy yet fantastic Eli Russell Linnetz photoshoot from 2018 represents her mindset during the time. I can totally see it going hand in hand with songs like Alice and 911. Maybe it was the original 'Chromatica'? Just a speculation but it's fun to speculate. We still don't know why and when this photoshoot was done, do we? https://www.wmagazine.com/story/lady-gaga-e...-bizarre-photos This photoshoot is incredible and came out of NOWHERE. I remember being floored by it. Gutted it never became official images for any of her material!

She makes time for everything in this world (a cosmetic line that puts out new products every week, acting in movies, hosting the biggest online festival ever created etc) but refuses to do the slightest promotion on her albums. Because, as has been said on the previous page it causes her stress and pain... We are not asking her to perform in 100 different countries or shoot 40 videos for the songs on the album, we are asking for a promotion based on current music industry standards, she didn't even have to leave home to promote her albums properly if she wanted (but with her useless manager, I can't expect otherwise). You can't deny any of that even if you wanted to. OK this is fair enough. And you repeatedly mention the importance of promo for SALES and STREAMS, but now, let's use Katy Perry as an example. All of that promo she did - how did it translate into sales for her Smile album? Did sales sky-rocket? Was the album 3x platinum after this promo? Is Katy is a confident place to release new music now? Or has Gaga's more muted response to promo actually been BENEFICIAL to her? Were people tired of her after Born This Way (and ARTPOP) and did this impact her album sales then? Did her more restrained outlook to social media in the aftermath of that make people grow in appreciation of her? Are sales of Chromatica and its songs good - yes. Would they have been much higher with promo - probably not? Would people maybe have grown tired of her again - possibly. Who knows. So many what ifs... so because of that, let's just enjoy the things she does give us and not continually stress about a few extra thousand sales at the expense of putting her in the limelight when she doesn't want to be.
November 3, 20213 yr Because, as has been said on the previous page it causes her stress and pain... OK this is fair enough. Did sales sky-rocket? Was the album 3x platinum after this promo? Is Katy is a confident place to release new music now? Are you really comparing Gaga's demand with Katy's? Gaga was always more sensitive to promotion and always sold more even promoting less than her. In order for Teenage Dream to sell the same as Born This Way, a solo album with 5 singles and weak support from US radio for the singles, Katy had to promote Teenage Dream for almost 3 years, including releasing 7 singles from the album, several remixes with famous artists as soon as they were released, a reissue with 2 other singles, a 124-date tour, performances at the biggest music awards for two years in a row, a film about the album that was shown in movie theaters and her record company had to pay US radios to play every single from the album every 10 minutes at the time. Gaga was coming from ASIB and Katy was coming from Witness, her biggest commercial flop until Smile was released, but Katy at least tried to sell her album even though she was pregnant in a pandemic, while Gaga only had time for her beauty brand and her boyfriend. Or has Gaga's more muted response to promo actually been BENEFICIAL to her? Were people tired of her after Born This Way (and ARTPOP) and did this impact her album sales then? And what proof do you have that the album and its singles wouldn't have sold more with a decent promotion instead of her complete silence? This goes against logic, the more an artist promotes their stuff the more people will be reached and consequently sales will go up, that's the logic and what would certainly happen with Gaga and her album with a proper promotion. Stop settling for crumbs as we all know that Gaga can do so much more.
November 4, 20213 yr Author "Settling for crumbs" I am settling for an artist that has released CHROMATICA one of my favourite albums ever it turns out to be, + all the work she has done this year and the upcoming films etc. That's a fricking BUFFET MEAL to this stan not crumbs but you support her how you want to and see her work ethic however you wish to. I'm enjoying her game and her career is one of the most exciting of all the pop stars I follow. I also want her to be in the game for the long run and if that means taking a back step after her releases then so be it. She has saved my life countless times, the least I can do is have some respect for hers.
November 4, 20213 yr Everyone sets their expectations at the level they want, but I don't expect anything but excellence from her, so I won't pretend everything's fine when it's not. Since I joined this forum I haven't seen you once discuss a wrong step she has taken and is still taking in her career, you, like many fans, have settled down and accept whatever she delivers since ARTPOP, you don't have critical thinking, you are blindfolded applauding everything she does and criticizing anyone else who points out any mistakes she has made in her career. She's Lady Gaga, not just anyone else around, I bet all my chips on her and I won't stop complaining until she gets her mind and her career right.
November 4, 20213 yr Author Cool, well you do you and I'll do me and that's that. Glad we understand each other. Although I do critique choices she makes so don't for a second assume things that aren't true. The responses I have on this forum and the energy I give to it are a reflection of how happy she makes me - and that energy is never going to be dimmed. Sorry~ I'll enjoy the music and energy it gives me and won't compromise that for ANYONE because without I'd be a shell of the confident, happy, POSITIVE, person I am today. You experience her career how you wish to and I hope you're happy and positive too because if not.. what a waste of energy.
