I do much prefer his vocal trance efforts like these though as the handful of instrumentals he put out afterwards registered no impact here. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of one of the most iconic dance hits Oliver Heldens got commissioned to remix Another Chance. And it sounds exactly what you'd expect from an Oliver Heldens remix of Another Chance. Not amazing but a worthy modernisation of it, a lot preferable to the Big Pineapple/Don Diablo version of it from a while back anyway. I may have got into this a bit more if we didn't already get the Ella Henderson song sampling it last year. Oliver will be appearing much higher up with one of his own original songs.

An album track from CamelPhat here now so a side of them you may not have heard if you aren't a big enough fan to have checked out the album. It's rather low-key for them production wise but it is done to suit the delicate Jem Cooke vocal. I do prefer their more song-focused tracks generally so this was a very welcome inclusion. Just a lovely song really that deserved better than being thrown in towards the end of a very long album.

It seems now Lucas & Steve's main purpose in music is to keep making Avicii inspired songs and I'm happy with that, this is another great effort from them even if very generic which ultimately stopped it from being a big chart hit here. Quite a few songs in this section I'm vaguely aware of but never investigated beyond a few curiosity plays - SHUM was one of the better tracks from this year's Eurovision though.

 

Don't think I've heard Paper Planes though so giving a listen now - it's quite enjoyable! As you say it's quite Avicii-esque which makes it fairly enjoyable, taking me back 5 or so years.

Commentary

TheFatRat gave us what we all needed in 2020 with another Laura Brehm collab and one that was actually great again (making for a confusing run of their collabs peaks of 4-2-1-85-1). 'We'll Meet Again' is thankfully not an ill-advised cover of the Vera Lynn song but another great mid-tempo dance track that TheFatRat does so well. It has a great uplifting vibe especially with the brass melody in the post-chorus. Laura gives another amazing vocal here and we'll be seeing her one more time later on in the countdown. In this time of Covid a great hopeful song such as this was refreshing to hear.

Honestly was a disappointment they didn't "meet again" for TheFatRat's album!
