February 25, 20223 yr my faves of that recent section: 29. Ofenbach & Ella Henderson – Hurricane 27. Shouse – Love Tonight [David Guetta Remix] [cool remix though I did much prefer the original] 26. Rain Radio & DJ Craig Gorman – Talk About [absolutely brilliant commercial dance track, wish there were more like it in the chart that feel more club oriented than pop] 22. Ava Max – My Head & My Heart [this may just be my fave effort of hers so far] 21. Chicane – Make You Stay

Bebe Rexha’s finest single in a very long time, and it was criminal that it did not make any impact on the official charts. Still waiting for a follow-up single worthy of this status. This isn’t the only song titled “Sacrifice” inside the EOY Top 20…”

The breezy dance song never made any sort of impact in the official charts but it remains one of my favourite discoveries of 2021. It also goes down as the most amount of credits associated with any song featured in the Top 40 countdown’s history!””
February 28, 20223 yr Author 18. Ed Sheeran – Shivers [Navos Remix] Date Entered: 08/10/2021 2021 Chart Peak: 1 2021 Chart Run: [23-22-11-7-1-1-1-4-7-9-10-16-28-32>14] 6sRJ7TSvTXk EOY Commentary “Another personal chart #1 of 2021 was this single by Ed Sheeran. It reached the top for three weeks thanks to a fresh remix by Navos which lifted the track to another level. Shivers was always overshadowed by the success and appeal of Bad Habits which is still to come in this EOY countdown. Not too long after this charted Overpass Graffiti entered my chart too.”
February 28, 20223 yr Author 17. Rina Sawayama – LUCID Date Entered: 01/01/2021 2021 Chart Peak: 1 2021 Chart Run: [6-2-1-2-2-2-5-7-12-18-24-32-39-40>14] BVTr3GRy5g8 EOY Commentary “A personal chart banger from early 2021 which I am so glad I discovered at the time, I instantly fell in love with the song and it became a personal chart #1 in January. At the time I didn’t know the name Rina Sawayama, but she has become a much more widely recognised artist in the last year working with Elton John as well as Charli XCX more recently. LUCID should really belong in my Top 10, but given it’s relatively shorter stay in the chart along with only a single week at #1 it’s not hard to see why it has peaked here.’”

The song was something different from the rest of the songs in my chart at the time, and it slowly but surely made it’s way to the top of the chart and remained inside the Top 40 for 22 weeks. The follow up single Gimme Your Love was less successful but did reach the Top 40.”
March 2, 20223 yr Author 15. It bounced back to #1 in the first couple of weeks of 2021, managing a total of 22 weeks in full (17 in 2021). Get Out My Head was such an impressive number 1 having come out of nowhere by an unknown artist at the time. Shane Codd has released several singles since but they have not had the same impact yet.”

Topic assisted with the production on this single, and it managed to continue its chart run into 2022. Finishing at #14 in the EOY is a great achievement, and I’m sure Becky will feature prominently in 2022 as well.”
March 2, 20223 yr Author 13. Summer 91 (Looking Back) was a very retro sounding single that went on to become an official hit in the UK. His follow-up singles haven’t been as successful, but I’m sure there’s plenty more to come in the future.”
March 4, 20223 yr Author 12. It’s no surprise really that I’m a big fan of her music, and this single released in the Summer was a bit hit and reached #1 for a single week. It was released at a time when David Guetta was literally everywhere in the charts with names like Little Mix, RAYE, Shouse, Afrojack and others. Becky Hill really dominated 2021 and her album was a great success off the back of this single. A great EOY position for this one.”

Sacrifice was an instant personal chart #1 and for one month became my most successful entry to date finishing at #10 in the final before being beaten the following month by another entry. Definitely hoping there is more music to come from this producer in the future.”

Of course! Love Again was the hit that never was. It was released post album and never really troubled the singles chart despite an official video produced. The song managed to remain an entry on my personal chart for some 23 weeks but never had a week at #1, peaking at #2 twice. It was sad seeing this single which makes clever usage of the sample from Your Woman never reach the UK Top 40. :(”

Credit to The Blessed Madonna too for the work done on this outstanding record.”

Topic’s best single so far for me, and teaming up with Bebe Rexha was such a great idea, the result was a song that lasted in my chart for a total of 23 weeks, but surprisingly, only peaking at #3. I truly hope Bebe continues to feature on dance singles in the future as it’s really the way to go for her.”
March 8, 20223 yr Author 7. RAYE was really on form with her releases, and each single was bringing her closer and closer to the public eye having scored features with bug names like Regard, Rudimental, Joel Corry and Riton amongst others. Regardless was a fresh take on the classic hit Rapture and gave RAYE a minor hit as a result. Definitely one of my favourite names from 2021.”
March 9, 20223 yr Author 6. It’s yet to be seen if ATB can conquer the charts again in the future, but for now I am happy to see his name in my EOY Top 10!”

BED was a firm favourite from the first half of 2021. It also became my Spotify Wrapped #1 song of 2021 too. 23 weeks in total on the chart with two separate stints at #1. Joel went on to release many other songs in that year and another one of these singles is still to come as we now enter the Top 5 songs of 2021 on the Top 40 Countdown by awardinary”

Charli XCX’s ability to slot into a dance track and provide some fresh vocals to a popular piece of music was a masterpiece. One of my favourite songs of 2021 and it’s not surprising to see this one marginally higher than BED, but with just three places left who will be revealed… :o”
March 15, 20223 yr Author Sorry that it has taken so long to complete this, I will endeavour to find a quicker way to get through the EOY next time around.
