Number 1. Better The Devil You Know

 

 

One of my favourite Steps singles ever and I knew it as a Kylie cover on release! So glad it’s still so prominent on their tours! Just love love love!

 

Not sure it’s sits well on Buzz though yet… let’s see!

Better.. is an ok cover for me. Steps didn’t do much with it but also didn’t destroy it either. Kylie’s version is a lot better though imo.

2. Stomp!

 

 

I mean it goes off live but I can never understand how this made number 1 and gems like OFS etc didn’t!

 

Not enough Lee on this song… in fact is he even on it?

Oh, I actually enjoy Stomp! I agree other releases deserved the #1 spot. Happy they got another #1 though. Love the campiness of this song and it doesn’t sound dated nowadays. The video is fun but also a bit weak concept wise.

 

8.5/10 for this underrated song!

I agree it works live! It’s the fact they didn’t do much with it that makes it a 7/10 for me.

3. Summer of Love

 

 

I seem to forget this regularly but actually it’s such a bop, and I love the video! Good v Bad Steps is something they did a few times clearly! Goes off on tour as well!

Summer of love I adored back in the days and still do until this day. I got the single send to me from the UK and played it a million times a day. Definitely a more Steps/Buzz track as it was pop but less Abba. Love the colorful video as well. This could’ve been a hit in Europe/Australia with some promo!

4. It’s The Way You Make Me Feel

 

 

A love love love for me! A staple I hope they never get rid of on their tours if only because of the shared vocals. Although I have to say I didn’t love it on the latest tour - some odd stage placings for the band and I feel the sentiment of the song was lost ever so slightly by H’s outfit. (Sorry!)

It’s the way is also another Steps classic! Great song and love the video (Lisa and her braises are iconic). I was shocked that it entered at #72 but relieved when I found out why. A top 3 Steps song for me!

5. You’ll Be Sorry

 

 

I appreciate that I’ve linked the single version as opposed to the album version. Not a massive favourite I have to say and I didn’t miss it on the latest tour either. Dare I say too much H?

You’ll be sorry is another more mature/Buzz sound from the group. Not my favorite, not their worst. I like that it’s more of a poppy dancetune with a ‘futuristic’ video. Oh, and indeed a bit too much H :P

 

Still, a solid 8/10

6. Learn To Love Again

 

 

I can’t recall ever hearing this before and it seems to remind me of Sonique’s Feel So Good in places as well. Not terrible, not amazing!

I don’t mind Learn to love again as a song. What kills it for me are H’s vocals. Too much, too much! Ugh…though not the worst H related song..still a weak link on this album.

I get Steps ‘98 vs Hex Hector vibes on this. Is this a fan favourite? It’s not justified but I like the Lisa dominance on here for sure!

I don’t mind Learn to love again as a song. What kills it for me are H’s vocals. Too much, too much! Ugh…though not the worst H related song..still a weak link on this album.

I used to be a big fan of Lisa and made me really enjoy ‘Never get over you’. Now I find it ok. It seems like she was focused on the singing that her delivery of the song lacks a bit in places. Also the mixing of the song sounds rushed.

 

6.5/10 for the ‘I used to love Lisa’ nostalgia it brings

8. Hand on Your Heart

 

 

I’m not big on the Steps ballads really but I will say this isn’t the worst song on the album yet. That H track from earlier was -
