Lorde had previously only made my chart once before with the wonderful 'Green Light' topping my chart in 2017 but this breezy and playful summer bop caught my ear attention as soon as I first heard it. In a similar mould to another 2021 title track from an album by one of the top female artist in the world, most of this song just feels like a build-up. The song keeps raising your anticipation before the beautiful crescendo of the outro finishes the song on a major high.

Like a lot of tracks that are from my favourite albums, you can see that there is quite a large discrepancy between where this landed in my points chart (99th out of the songs in my top 100) and the amount of times I've listened to it (=40th out of the 100 on my Last.fm chart). This song also has an uncredited appearance from P. Diddy in the outro where he recites a prayer. Earlier in the song, Cole discuses that the last time he was in a fight it was actually with P. Diddy at the 2013 MTV Music awards. It's nice to see them make-up :lol: Bas has provided some great verses over the years but on here he gives us a lovely little bridge with some surprisingly soothing vocals.

Just like the film, the song is a (pretty blunt) metaphor for climate change and the conspiracies and conversations that arise from the world's reaction to it. Hopefully an Oscar nom for Best Original Song is on the way very soon.

This was their 'first' attempt in 2021 and is certainly a high-octane and cool slice of electro-pop with a high-concept music video made stronger by some amazing editorial touches but as a song, it's just missing that special spark that made 'LDD' a killer. Everglow deserve so much more, the production in their songs is always top-notch and the videos are always a treat.

This was my first qualifier and set me up for a year where I qualified more often than not, even if the other song to appear will be one that didn't qualify. :lol: I actually heard the English version of this track first called '100 Facts' and was baffled by the lyrics, they are certainly not direct translations. It's a really apt title as I think this may be a little 'cooler' than most of the other k-pop entries in my chart. This was taken off Spotify for a short period of time but I'm very glad it's back now.
