First half of the race had some interesting moments, largely Max vs George (even if it was down to a faulty car) but ultimately it ended up as expected - Red Bull 1-2 with Ferrari dropping back. The Mercs were fastest in a straight line all weekend and with the longest straight on the calendar it was inevitable they'd challenge the tyre killing Ferraris. Thought Charles might have held third though.

Interesting to see that the Mercs still have overheating issues at high temps.

Best thing about the race:

Worst thing about the race:

And the race in a sentence:

Best driver: Hamilton

Worst driver: Albon

Best team: Red Bull

Worst team: Williams

Best overtake: Perez on Russell

Worst overtake: Sainz on Hamilton

Best moment: Russell fending of Verstappen

Worst moment: Leclerc retiring

Best thing about the race: As Spanish GPs go it wasn't all bad

Worst thing about the race: It was mostly bad

And the race in a sentence: Another win puts Vertsappen on course to break the record for the most in a season

I would argue Sainz for worst driver, again so far behind Leclerc and not close to turning up in the same way that Perez is now doing each week. To only beat Lewis because of a problem for the latter in the last laps is a shocker. We didn't really see a great deal of it but Hamilton was certainly on one yesterday, would have been interesting to see what he'd have done being the only car on mediums.

Sainz has got himself in to that unenviable position of being both unlucky and driving badly, so much so that Ferrari must be questioning is ability already. Sure, he outscored Leclerc last year but Charles threw away a sackful of points and it flattered Carlos.

Right now Sainz can consider himself lucky that there are no, clearly better options for the Scuderia or he'd be looking at a short tenure with them. And even then Schumacher may be a more marketable and profitable choice

Best driver: Russell [maximum result he could have realistically achieved, great defending lap after lap from an admittedly hindered RB]

Worst driver: Albon [no idea what happened with him this weekend but was absolutely miles off the pace]

Best team: Red Bull

Worst team: Williams

Best overtake: Verstappen on Bottas [turn 12, leftfield]

Worst overtake: Sainz on Hamilton

Best moment: Russell vs Verstappen battle

Worst moment: Hamilton and Magnussen collision [we were denied the chance to see both Mercs dualing nearing the front]

Best thing about the race: Catalunya provided a very entertaining race for once

Worst thing about the race: Leclerc retiring [yes it made the race itself more interesting but the title battle has suffered with Max now in front and in such red hot form]

And the race in a sentence: Ferrari's turn to falter as Max exceeds in a red hot belter [doesn't rhyme but meh cba to think for any longer]

Edited by Dobbo.

think Saenz is under a lot of pressure, the press is brutal in Italy, and thats seriously affecting him

Guesss Leclerc already got his Monaco bad fortune/performance out of the way early this year?

Yuki Tsunoda will receive an automatic 10-place grid penalty if he collects another reprimand this year after receiving his fourth of the 2022 season in Monaco.

The Monaco Grand Prix stewards penalised Tsunoda for impeding Kevin Magnussen’s Haas during the second practice session on Friday evening.

Perez outperformed Verstappen 3x. :o

I wouldn't go so far as to say I expected it but I'm not surprised either. Max has looked uncomfortable in this years RB on quite a number of occasions this year whereas it appears to suit Checo's style much more. Max is clearly the better driver and Perez isn't suddenly better than him, but Monaco is a circuit that is all about precision and flow. If you're not feeling comfortable or confident in the car you're not going to maximise the car's potential.

There's quite a few drivers struggling to dominate the new cars and if it is wet as predicted tomorrow this years race could be lively

Oh dear. Sainz could be in trouble here. He should not be going that fast then and if we assume the marshals and wheel display were fine he'll be up for another reprimand, his second of the weekend, and leaving him one away from a grid penalty

This is ridiculously over cautious by the race director. The delay is ok but why use the safety car for the formation lap? It's not worth wet weather tyres

Typical F1 stewards making a hash of the weather. Let the teams make their mistakes!

As inconsistent as they have been recently, I don't think you can blame the stewards for this one

I'm assuming you mean race control

Damnit not gonna be able to watch the whole race now... oh well clearly they're gonna wait for it to be completely bone dry anyway in which case it'll be its usual parade.
