Is it just me, or do Merc look like they’ve missed a good half a dozen tricks compared to the other cars on the grid.

We’ve seen everything but the real RBR and the Alpine now and idk like. God wouldn’t that be nice if they bombed the regulation change this time.

The Mercedes looks very much like and evolution of the W12 rather than a new concept. And to my eyes it looks really long. Much more so than any of the others

Aaah thanks for that! Potato quality like but it kinda looks to me to be along the narrow but long sidepod school of thought
I'm intrigued by the possibility of an Andretti F1 entry.

I'm wondering where the funds suddenly came from. 6 months ago it was too costly to build a team from scratch so buying an existing one was the only option. Now it must mean either a deal is potentially in place to purchase someone like Haas or Sauber, OR there's backing from another substantial entity.

Either way it's all positive - more cars on the grid is long overdue, more opportunities for American talent to can a foothold in the sport and the Andretti family name is not only synonymous with speed but also steeped in racing history and has more than enough experience to make it work

So which F1 team do you think has the best looking car so far?

Hard to tell with the Alfa, Haas, Alpine and red Bull entries so far but -

Aston Martin

Ferrari

Alpha Tauri

Mercedes

Red Bull

Alfa Romeo

Williams

Haas

McLaren

Alpine?

Alpine image BTW is a fake

The wording of the tweet suggests a new team rather than a buyout of an existing one. That’s what I am hoping for

Wonder if they’re getting backing from a manufacturer partner

With a very Ferrari looking set of side pods!!

I am really liking the rear wing on the cars tho

The new Alpine is to be revealed in just under 30 mins. Apparently Renualt have prioritised pace over reliability.

Shades of 1982 and the RE30B?

A return of the fast but fragile yellow teapot is something I could live with. As Renault said earlier, it’s easier to fix reliability issues than invent performance. They’ve claimed to get it running reliably on the dyno so if it is fast they could be in the mix

False alarm. Alpine have done a giant launch for a paint job. I’m enjoying the pink/blue combo but the filming day tomorrow will be the first time we actually see the A522

Interesting that the cooling unit is 15% smaller vs the 2019 design. Both MGUs are mega lighter, the turbo has been split as well so a major new PU from Renault. Also confirming a single pylon rear wing which we will see tomorrow

New teams or even feeder series teams should be able to dream about entering F1 and trying to be competitive in it. That dream should be possible to realise and not blocked by current teams getting a monopoly position to protect their business. Teams that come and go are part of the flavour, of the charm and the history of the sport.

It just occured to me:

In 2007 Canadian GP Kubica famously crashed out, Hamilton took his first F1 win, Heidfeld finished 2nd and Wurz took his last F1 podium.
