And? It just goes to show that the audience was there for the song but Gaga and her label had no market sense and ignored the most obvious option, which would be a huge smash if released after Poker Face instead of LoveGame (which underperformed compared to other 3 official singles from the album) as the third official single. That song would be as big as Poker Face, I have no doubt about that.

It's easy to say that in hindsight, but even if Starstruck was popular as an album track, we don't know how radio and the broader public would have responded to it. It certainly wouldn't have been as big as Poker Face. No way. Only Bad Romance and Shallow in whole career have been as big as that and Starstruck isn't even in the same realm as any of those. Not even close.

That's your opinion but I prefer to believe in facts and figures.

Even 2 months after LoveGame video came out, the song still hadn't surpassed Starstruck in US downloads. It just goes to show how popular Starstruck was and that they made the wrong choice in not making this song the third official single from the album. Starstruck would definitely be as big as Poker Face, a song with Flo Rida and Gaga in 2009 couldn't go wrong, it just couldn't, it's a fact.

Your opinion is not a fact :) It's all based on assumptions not facts. You claiming it would be as big as Poker Face is almost as laughable as your claim about ABBA being a girl group #realitycheck

And all you've done so far is denying reality, at least I brought numbers to support my claim, I'm not putting my opinion on the line, I'm showing facts that prove that Starstruck would be as big as Poker Face and Just Dance. Gaga must have, unfortunately, listened to the opinion of someone with the same lack of sense that you have, is the only plausible explanation for her and her record label having thrown a smash hit in the trash. Anyway, keep repeating things without having anything to support your argument.

Completely agreed!

Also, Starstruck didn't perform that well in every country. Relatively speaking, the UK wasn't here for it compared to LoveGame, Paparazzi or even Beautiful Dirty Rich. Let's look at the chart runs and entry dates:

Who cares about the UK when the song would be a clear US smash hit? Starstruck, sonically, was made for the US, not the UK.

Also worth pointing out that LoveGame was only sent to radio in the US in mid May 2009 and the video for LoveGame was nothing to write home about.

Like with the video for LoveGame. You could also argue that Flo Rida as a feature was a selling point in the US for Starstruck and drove a lot of curiosity downloads. However, a famous name alone can only get you so far. The song itself also needs to be strong and memorable enough to be a hit, which Starstruck is not (in my opinion of course), especially compared to Paparazzi and LoveGame.

Starstrukk is NOT on the same level as Paparazzi, Poker Face or Just Dance. However, lookin at the figures, it probably WOULD have done better than Love Game, and may have even been a small US #1 ... maybe. However, given how successful the era was WITH Love Game as a single, showing a more rnb side to the album, does it matter? The ENTIRE album was a smash. Love Game has aged better than Starstrukk, too, and doesn't have the cringe lyrics, groove, slime, on my back, baby work that track...

Looking at the pure numbers, it does look like Starstruck should have been the next single based on that alone. However, it would have been sonically similar to Poker Face and Just Dance, and not given as much variety as Love Game. Would it have distracted from Bad Romance, too, which was also a thumpin dance number??

Also, how did Paper Gangsta fee wih pure figures?? I think it wiuld have done well asasi gleroo

You mean the country where the album went 10xPlatinum? I think it was a country that they likely took into consideration regarding the overall campaign!

Maybe the early signs of LoveGame picking up sales outside of the US made the label think that, on balance, it was the right song to go with as a single. I remember a lot of online buzz about it, people were pretty obsessed with the "I wanna take a ride on your disco stick" lyric.

Maybe 'Right Round' becoming a massive hit very quickly (already #1 in the US in February 2009) meant that Gaga's label shied away from Starstruck as a single choice. Perhaps they didn't want to run the risk of Gaga being overshadowed and looking like she had a less impactful collaboration with Flo Rida. Anyway, I would say reaching #5 in the US made LoveGame a more than worthwhile choice in the end.

Opinions are relative, the only fact is that it was released. When Starstruck had sold 150k, LoveGame hadn't even reached 100k in the US. Paparazzi only reached 100k in the US when Starstruck had sold over 300k, with no video, airplay or performances.

You always bringing your own opinion as your only argument while I bring numbers, who's right? You can fake it but you can't change numbers, they are facts. ;)

10x Platinum adding The Fame + Monster. In the US, TF + M combined hit 11x P. Also, 10x P in the UK means lower sales than pure sales of The Fame alone in the US. Got the point? ;)

We are not debating opinions here, I want numbers, I brought mine, bring yours.

Starstruck with video, airplay and performances would be a #1 US smash hit and would have sold 5M pure US sales in the worst case scenario. I know a hit when I hear one.
I agreed your numbers are facts, but they are just pure numbers and don't take inti account he entire CONTEXT!

Why settle for #5 when you can be #1? ;)

And what would the context be? Flo Rida was hot as hell and so was Gaga. The gp clearly chose Starstruck as their third single, just look at the numbers, they're there for anyone to see, but it's no secret that Gaga and her label always throw hits in the trash.

Yes, like Gypsy, Scheisse, Dance In The Dark, Teeth and Alice!!!

However, Love Game has aged better, soumds better, and what we know is that Starstrukk was popular with FANS, like the abysmal On Your Radar by Britney Spears. She released it ... and ir flopped massively.

Starstrukk isn't as strong as Just Dance or Poker Face, so she would have released something that sounded derivative of her bigger hits, plus not have branched our in sound eaelt, like she did with Love Game.

Are you going to keep repeating your impressions or are you going to bring up some fact? I get that you don't like the song, but her US audience disagrees.
