Was ever a film more misunderstood than Joker: Folie à Deux? It’s hard to believe Todd Phillips was expecting otherwise, but perhaps that’s what gives his almost belligerently hardcore sequel its edge. Summoning the spirit of nihilistic punk rocker G.G. Allin, subject of his 1993 doc Hated, Phillips descends on the DC franchise like Godzilla on Tokyo. Because the film was rubbish. It doesn't matter how good the acting was (and both Gaga and Phoenix's acting was actually superb), if the film is bad it aint going to get recognition.

It depends on what glasses you have on I'd say. I think it's a good drama but bad musical and/or DC movie.

Only seen it once in the cinemas - haven't brought myself to rewatch it because this era triggers me now

I still haven’t seen this after initial critics review, as it frightens me if it dampens my high view of mother (so I’m being delusional and choosing to ignore this and only count ‘A Star is Born’ as one of her few movie projects x).
