What a stupid headline, nothing needs 'saving' the first Joker was one of the biggest and most critically acclaimed films of it's year with Joaquin Phoenix getting all the awards for best actor. Same for A Star is Born it has Bradley Cooper one of the biggest actors in it and the two previous versions of it were also big hits.

I don't think you're referring to the same Joker movie we know. The first film was far from being "one of the most acclaimed of its year" lol. It got mixed reviews on Metacritic with a 59 score.

Also, Gaga's version of A Star Is Born was the only one to combine critical acclaim with box office success, all the other 3 versions only achieved one of these requirements.

Whilst I don't think Joker 2 needs "saving" per se, Gaga can obviously help it to be seen as evolved version of the first one and make it potentially a bigger success too than it would be without her.

Lol talk about being selective. It swooped he awards season with Joaquin winning pretty much every one. It also got 69 on rotten tomato which is a good result for that site, anything over 60 is considered green. Not to mention it was very successful at the box office. The film was going to be a big deal whether Gaga was in it or not, she hasn’t saved anything.

That’s not taking away from the fact her name is helping the film, but it’s a mutual thing the film is helping her name too.
