19. Christina Aguilera - Hurt

"Hurt" is a ballad written by Christina Aguilera, Linda Perry and Mark Ronson for Aguilera's third album Back to Basics (2006). The song's lyrical content describes how one deals with the loss of a loved one, and it has received praise from pop music critics. Aguilera premiered the song at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards and was released as the album's second single in late 2006 - UK#11/USA#19.

Lyrics:

Seems like it was yesterday when I saw your face

You told me how proud you were but I walked away

If only I knew what I know today

I would hold you in my arms

I would take the pain away

Thank you for all you've done

Forgive all your mistakes

There's nothing I wouldn't do

To hear your voice again

Sometimes I want to call you but I know you won't be there

I'm sorry for blaming you for everything I just couldn't do

And I've hurt myself by hurting you

Some days I feel broke inside but I won't admit

Sometimes I just want to hide 'cause it's you I miss

You know it's so hard to say goodbye when it comes to this

Would you tell me I was wrong?

Would you help me understand?

Are you looking down upon me?

Are you proud of who I am?

There's nothing I wouldn't to do

To have just one more chance

To look into your eyes and see you looking back

I'm sorry for blaming you for everything I just couldn't do

And I've hurt myself

If I had just one more day, I would tell you how much that

I've missed you since you've been away

Oh, it's dangerous

It's so out of line to try to turn back time

I'm sorry for blaming you for everything I just couldn't do

And I've hurt myself

By hurting you

18. Charlotte Church - Moodswings

"Moodswings (to Come at Me like That)" is Charlotte Church's fourth single from her 2005 album Tissues and Issues. "Moodswings" reached number fourteen on the UK Singles Chart in early 2006.

The video has Church at different settings and in different poses- sitting down at a table, standing up and lying down some of them. During the scenes, Church's clothes change on her at regular few second intervals, and sometimes she even seems to change "form" altogether, for example, she once changes into a child. When only her face is seen, she is given different make-up and glasses, and also make-up which seems to imply injury. She is seen in one scene to walk from different places into the same room holding a sign above her head, which shows the lyrics. The video was directed by the creator of the Girls Aloud "Biology" video, and the similarities in effects and costume can clearly be seen.

Lyrics:

Now first of all I want to let you to know that

I’ve been known for some minor

mood swings now and then

It all started back when people

were doing me wrong

And because of my position I would

Hold my tongue for then

Bad relationships and people I thought were friends

And people judging me

Before they get to know a thing

When you decide to step to me,

It shows me so clearly

You just want to see, see the other side of me

And you don’t know what I’m going through

And you might think it’s all about you

But it’s everything I’ve been holding back

It’s just bad timing to come at me like that

I try to keep my cool, thus, that’s what I try to do

But it’s so hard dealing with people just like you

I try to walk away from situations that run

Into complications that make me loose control

If I give in to you then it’s what you want me to do

And if I loose my cool then I’m only pleasing you

You know just how to push me,

My temperature is rising

Blood pressure is building,

I’m about to loose control

I'm sorry, did I cross the line?

I tried to warn you away

Way ahead of time

I'm so frustrated I feel like I could cry

This could be the time

But I'm not going out like that

17. All Saints - Rock Steady

Rock Steady is the lead single taken from Studio 1, the 2006 comeback album from All Saints. It was announced in January of 2006 that the band had reunited and signed a deal with Parlophone and a release would be due out in the autumn. The single was released on November 6, 2006. The song was given its first ever radio airplay on The Chris Moyles Show on BBC Radio 1 on 21 September 2006. The song peaked at UK#3.

Lyrics:

Years on the run

Boy I know I can take it

And now that I'm here

I know you can't stand the waiting, boy

Lets say no more games

No messing with the mind

Always room for change

Let's give it one more try

(Come on lets give it a try)

I got my bags packed baby and i'm ready to go

Look at my eyes rock steady and I promise you more

I got My heart back baby and it's skipping a beat

I got my ass in check, checkin' out, I'm ready to feel

It's all good to go

I'm right here for the taking

(oooh ticky ticky ticky)

Don't cross the line

I'll promise you no fakin', boy

(no no no no)

Its all understood

No messing with the rules

(the rules, the rules)

If I let you go

Boy I will be a fool

(What kind of girl wants to be a fool?)

I got my bags packed baby and i'm ready to go

Look at my eyes rock steady and I promise you more

I got My heart back baby and it's skipping a beat

I got my ass in check, checkin' out, I'm ready to feel

Tell me why we act so stupid, the games we're playing (oooh)

If life is the rule then we're heading towards the same thing

You are not worthless with love instead of the fighting (oooh)

Let's get together forever with no more hiding

I got my bags packed baby and i'm ready to go

Look at my eyes rock steady and I promise you more

I got My heart back baby and it's skipping a beat

I got my ass in check, checkin' out, I'm ready to feel

I got my bags packed baby and i'm ready to go

Look at my eyes rock steady and I promise you more

I got My heart back baby and it's skipping a beat

I got my ass in check, checkin' out, I'm ready to feel

16. Corinne Bailey Rae - Put Your Records On

"Put Your Records On" is the second single from English soul singer Corinne Bailey Rae's debut album Corinne Bailey Rae, released in February and early March 2006 throughout Europe.

The song was co-written by Corinne Bailey Rae, John Beck, and Steve Chrisanthou, and produced by Steve Chrisanthou. It crashed into the UK charts at number two and was only kept off the top spot by Madonna's "Sorry." The carefree, chilled out style of both the song and the video – set in South Africa – caught people's imagination and created hype around Corinne that a British urban music artist hasn't enjoyed since Craig David and Ms. Dynamite's emergence in 2000 and 2002 respectively.

The song earned two 2007 Grammy Award nominations: "Record of the Year" and "Song of the Year".

Lyrics:

Three little birds, sat on my window.

And they told me I don't need to worry.

Summer came like cinnamon

So sweet,

Little girls double-dutch on the concrete.

Maybe sometimes, we got it wrong, but it's alright

And nothing seems to change, and it all will stay the same.

Oh, don't you hesitate.

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song

You go ahead, let your hair down

Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,

Just go ahead, let your hair down.

You're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow.

Blue as the sky, sombre and lonely,

Sipping tea in the bar by the road side,

(just relax, just relax)

Don't you let those other boys fool you,

Gotta love that awful hairdo.

Maybe sometimes, we feel afraid, but it's alright

The more you stay the same, the more they seem to change.

Don't you think it's strange?

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song

You go ahead, let your hair down

Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,

Just go ahead, let your hair down.

You're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow.

Just more than I could take, pity for pity's sake

Some nights kept me awake, I thought that I was stronger

When you gonna realise, that you don't even have to try any longer.

Do what you want to.

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song

You go ahead, let your hair down

Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,

Just go ahead, let your hair down.

Girl, put your records on, tell me your favourite song

You go ahead, let your hair down

Sapphire and faded jeans, I hope you get your dreams,

Just go ahead, let your hair down.

Oh, You're gonna find yourself somewhere, somehow.

15. The Flaming Lips - The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song

"The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song (With All Your Power)" is a song by The Flaming Lips, released as the second single from their 2006 album At War with the Mystics. It is their highest-charting single so far in the UK, peaking at #16.

The theme of the lyrics is more political than their earlier material, as it asks listeners what they would do if they had all the power in the world. The questions asked are answered by a chorus of repetitive "yeah"s for some questions and "no"s for others. Wayne Coyne has repeatedly stated that the song does not directly refer to George W. Bush, as members of the media have speculated, but serves as a general statement about abuse of power. Coyne summarized his intended interpretation to the band's audience at the Austin City Limits Music Festival that "Power is like money. It should be earned, not given to you."

Lyrics:

If you could blow up the world

with the flick of a switch

Would you do it?

If you could make everybody poor

just so you could be rich

Would you do it?

If you could watch everybody work

while you just lay on your back

Would you do it?

If you could take all the love

without giving any back

Would you do it?

And so we cannot know ourselves

or what we'd really do...

With all your power

With all your power

With all your power

What would you do?

If you could make your own money

and then give it to everybody

Would you do it?

If you knew all the answers

and could give it to the masses

Would you do it?

No No No No No No Are you crazy?

It's a very dangerous thing

to do exactly what you want...

Because you cannot know yourself

or what you'd really do...

With all your power

With all your power

With all your power

What would you do?

14. The Automatic - Monster

"Monster" is the third single from Cardiff band The Automatic, and is also their signature live song. It was released on June 5 2006 and reached #4 in the UK Singles Chart, but entered at #23 the week before based on downloads alone. The track is from The Automatic's first album, Not Accepted Anywhere.

It was featured in the Doctor Who Confidential episode The Fright Stuff, first screened on July 24, 2006; the song played over a montage of clips featuring monsters from both the classic and new series of Doctor Who. A segment of the song was used the soundtrack for a 2006 commercial for the Sky Box Office showing of King Kong. It also featured at the start of the Torchwood episode Countrycide. The song has also been used as an intro for the french show "Le grand journal" (2006/2007) from the "Canal+" Chanel.

Lyrics:

Brain fried tonight through misuse

Through misuse, through misuse

You can't avoid static abuse

Abuse, abuse

Without these pills you're let loose

You're let loose, you're let loose

Take off, get out, no excuse

No excuse, no excuse

What's that coming over the hill

Is it a monster? Is it a monster?

What's that coming over the hill

Is it a monster? Is it a monster?

What's that coming over the hill

Is it a monster? Is it a monster?

What's that coming over the hill?

Confused, mind bruised, it seeps out

It seeps out, it seeps out

Face down, home town looks so grey

Looks so grey, looks so grey

Convexed you bend, twist and shout

Twist and shout, twist and shout

Stand up brush off get moving

Get moving, get moving

What's that coming over the hill

Is it a monster? Is it a monster?

(x4)

Face down, home town, face down, home town

Face down, home town, it looks so grey

(x4)

What's that coming over the hill

Is it a monster? Is it a monster?

13. Orson - No Tomorrow

"No Tomorrow" is a song by Hollywood, California-based rock band Orson and is featured on their 2006 debut album, Bright Idea. It was released as the lead single from that album in late February 2006, eventually climbing to the top of the UK Singles Chart three weeks after its release. Despite entering the charts at #5 (selling 22,337), No Tomorrow climbed two weeks later to gain the top spot, making the band break yet another record, which was the lowest weekly sales of a UK number 1 single ever, selling only 17,694 copies.

The single, however, had previously been released as a free download on the iTunes music store where it became the most downloaded single of the week to date.

Lyrics:

Let's go to a rave,

And behave like we're trippin'

Simply 'cause we're so in love.

Funny hats, shiny pants-

All we need for some romance,

Go get dolled-up

And I'll pick you up.

There's no line for you and me

'Cause tonight we're V.I.P.

(I know somebody at the door).

I see that twinkle in your eye,

You shake that ass and I just die,

Let's check our coats and move out to the floor.

When I'm dancing with you

Tomorrow doesn't matter.

Turn that music up

'Till the windows start to shatter

'Cause you're the only one who can get me on my feet.

And I can't even dance.

Just look at me, Silly Me,

I'm as happy as can be-

I got a girl who thinks I rock.

And tomorrow there's no school,

So lets go drink some more Red Bull,

And not get home 'till about 6:00.

When I'm dancing with you

Tomorrow doesn't matter.

Turn that music up

'Till the windows start to shatter

'Cause you're the only one who can get me on my feet.

And I can't even dance.

Everybody here is staring

At the outfit that you're wearing-

(I) Love it when they check you out.

Cover's only twenty bucks,

And even if the dj sucks

It's time to turn this mutha out!

When we're together

There's no tomorrow,

No Tomorrow.

When we're together

There's no one in the world

but you and me.

Just you and me.

You and me

12. Scissor Sisters - I Don't Feel Like Dancin'

"I Don't Feel Like Dancin'" is the first single from the second album by the Pop band Scissor Sisters, Ta-Dah. It was co-written by Elton John, who provides piano for the song, and was the band's first top ten single in Australia and Canada.

The single was made available on most download services on July 19 and was released as a CD single on September 4.

It became the band's first UK Number 1 single and topped the charts for five consecutive weeks.

The song's tempo, arrangement, use of falsetto vocals, and subject matter have been compared by reviewers in The Guardian and The Sun newspapers to Leo Sayer's 1977 hit "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing."

One of the band members mentioned in a UK radio interview that the song is about staying in at home at night instead of going out.

Lyrics:

Wake up in the morning with a head like ‘what ya done?’

This used to be the life but I don’t need another one.

Good luck cuttin’ nothin’, carrying on, you wear them gowns.

So how come I feel so lonely when you’re up getting down?

So I play along when I hear that favourite song

I’m gonna be the one who gets it right.

You better know when you’re swingin’ round the room

Look’s like magic’s solely yours tonight

But I don’t feel like dancin’

When the old Joanna plays

My heart could take a chance

But my two feet can’t find a way

You think that I could muster up a little soft, shoop devil sway

But I don’t feel like dancin’

No sir, no dancin’ today.

Don’t feel like dancin’, dancin’

Even if i find nothin' better to do

Don’t feel like dancin’, dancin’

Why’d you break down when I’m not in the mood?

Don’t feel like dancin’, dancin’

Rather be home with no one when I can't get down with you

Cities come and cities go just like the old empires

When all you do is change your clothes and call that versatile.

You got so many colours make a blind man so confused.

Then why can’t I keep up when you’re the only thing I lose?

So I’ll just pretend that I know which way to bend

And I’m gonna tell the whole world that you’re mine.

Just please understand, when I see you clap your hands

If you stick around I’m sure that you’ll be fine.

But I don’t feel like dancin’

When the old Joanna plays

My heart could take a chance

But my two feet can’t find a way

You think that I could muster up a little soft, shoop devil sway

But I don’t feel like dancin’

No sir, no dancin’ today.

Don’t feel like dancin’, dancin’

Even if i find nothin' better to do

Don’t feel like dancin’, dancin’

Why’d you break down when I’m not in the mood?

Don’t feel like dancin’, dancin’

Rather be home with no one when I can't get down with you

You can’t make me dance around

But your two-step makes my chest pound.

Just lay me down as you blow it away into the shimmer light.

But I don’t feel like dancin’

When the old Joanna plays

My heart could take a chance

But my two feet can’t find a way

You think that I could muster up a little soft, shoop devil sway

But I don’t feel like dancin’

No sir, no dancin’ today.

Don’t feel like dancin’, dancin’

Even if i find nothin' better to do

Don’t feel like dancin’, dancin’

Why’d you break down when I’m not in the mood?

Don’t feel like dancin’, dancin’

Rather be home with no one when I can't get down with you

11. Nelly Furtado - Maneater

"Maneater" is a pop song written by Nelly Furtado, Timothy "Timbaland" Mosley, Jim Beanz and Nate "Danja" Hills for Furtado's third album Loose (2006). It was co-produced by Timbaland and Danja and includes influences of 1980s music by artists such as Eurythmics and Hall & Oates. Released as the album's first single in Asia and Europe in May 2006, "Maneater" became one of Furtado's most popular singles, topping the singles charts in Poland, Portugal and the UK, and reaching the top ten across much of Continental Europe. It served as the album's second single in Australia, where it reached the top five, and in North America, where it became a club hit but was not as commercially successful as lead single "Promiscuous".

Lyrics:

Everybody look at me me

I walk in the door you start screaming

C'mon everybody what you here for

Move your body around like a nympho

Everybody get your neck to crack around

All you crazy people c'mon jump around

I wanna see you all on your knees, knees

You either wanna be with me or be me

Maneater

Make you work hard, make you spend hard, make you want all of her love

She's a maneater

Make you buy cars make you cut cards

Make you fall real hard in love

She's a maneater

Make you work hard make you spend hard, make you want all of her love

She's a maneater

Make you buy cars make you cut cards

Wish you never ever met her at all

And when she walks she walks with passion

When she talks she talks like she can handle it

When she asks for something boy she means it

Even if you never ever see it

Everybody get your neck to crack around

All you crazy people c'mon jump around

You doing anything to keep her by your side

Because she says she love you love you long time (c'mon!)

You wish you never ever met her at all...

Been around the world I aint ever seen a girl like this

She's a maneater, a maneater.

10. Christina Aguilera - Ain't No Other Man

"Ain't No Other Man" is the lead single released by American singer Christina Aguilera from her third studio album Back to Basics (2006). The single was nominated for a Grammy Award in the Best Female Pop Vocal Performance category.

Produced by DJ Premier and Charles Roane, the song contains samples from The Moon People's Hippy, Skippy, Moon Strut (1969) and The Cissy's Thang (1969) by The Soul Seven. It was released as the first single from Back to Basics in June 2006; originally meant to be available for purchase on June 13, it was released early to iTunes Music Store on June 3. It debuted on UK radio on June 7, and also on Brazilian radio stations on the same day. It is thought to be Aguilera's comeback single, due to its strong chart performance after Aguilera's four-year hiatus from her previous studio album Stripped (2002). The song had a brass band in it. It is considered one of Aguilera's most critically-acclaimed records.

DJ Premier said about the track: "It's pretty much about how Aguilera's husband has stolen her from the beginning", and it began receiving airplay on American radio stations within the same day. Sony-BMG issued a statement regarding the release of the song, claiming that a full investigation would be launched in order to find out how the song was leaked, as they did not intend for the song to be released until after it premiered at the 2006 MTV Movie Awards on June 3. Because of the leak, RCA Records officially released the single to all U.S. radio stations the day after it leaked.

Big Boi from OutKast was scheduled to contribute a rap verse on the remix of the single. It is rumored that his record label pressured him to remove himself from the song to prevent the "Ain't No Other Man" remix from competing with Outkast's own single, "The Mighty O." RCA subsequently replaced Big Boi with Houston rapper, Chamillionaire. Nonetheless, Chamillioanares additional rap verse on the song proved not to be popular amongst fans and hardly received any radio airplay.

The single was released over two weeks in the UK. CD1, featuring the Radio Edit and Instrumental is released on 24th July 2006. CD2, featuring the Album & A cappella versions, and two remixes of the track was released on July 31, 2006. It peaked at UK#2 & USA#6.

This garner Aguilera another nomination in the upcoming 49th Annual Grammy Awards in the category Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. This is her 4th time nominated in this category.

Lyrics:

Do your thang honey!

I had feelings from the start,

Couldn't stand to be apart.

Something about you caught my eye,

Something moved me deep inside!

Don't know what you did boy but

You had it and i've been hooked ever since.

I told my mother, my brother, my sister and my friend

I told the others, my lovers, from past and present tense.

Everytime i see you everything starts making sense.

Do your thang honey!

Ain't no other man, can stand up next to you

Ain't no other man on the planet does what you do

(what you do).

You're the kinda guy, a girl finds in a blue moon.

You got soul, you got class.

You got style with your bad ass - oh yeah!

Ain't no other man its true - alright -

Ain't no other man but you.

Do your thang honey!

Never thought I'd be alright. No, no, no!

Till you came and changed my life. Yeah, yeah, yeah!

What was cloudy now is clear! Yeah, yeah!

For the light that I needed.

You got what I want boy, and I want it!

So keep on givin' it up!

Tell your mother, your brother, your sister, and your friend.

And the others, your lovers, better not be present tense.

Cause I want everyone to know that you are mine and no one else's!

Ain't no other man, can stand up next to you

Ain't no other man on the planet does what you do

(what you do).

You're the kinda guy, a girl finds in a blue moon.

You got soul, you got class.

You got style ya bad ass - oh yeah!

Ain't no other man it's true - alright -

Ain't no other man but you.

Break it down now!

Ain't no other, ain't, ain't no other! (other)

Ain't no other, ain't, ain't no other LOVER!

Ain't no other, I, I, I need no other!

Ain't no other man but you!

Ohhhh!

09. Pipettes - Pull Shapes

"Pull Shapes" is a single from The Pipettes and was released on July 3, 2006. It is available on CD, double 7" vinyl, and digital download from Memphis Industries. It peaked at UK#26.

The video for the song parodies a scene from the Russ Meyer film Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.

Lyrics:

Dance with me pretty boy tonight

Dance with me and we'll be alright

There’s a whole floor before us, just for you and me

So follow my lead and we'll one two three

Pull shapes!

I like to Disco

I like to Rock 'n' Roll

Well I like to Hip Hop

You can do it all

Just don't let the music fall

Pull shapes!

I lead with my left hand

I stomp with my right foot

Well I just want to freak out

I just want to move

I don't care what the song's about

Dance with me pretty boy tonight

dance with me and we'll be alright

There’s a whole floor before us, just for you and me

So follow my lead and we'll one two three

Pull Shapes!

Is that a drum beat?

(Pull shapes)

And is the bass sweet?

(Pull shapes)

Well then the rhythm is complete

So get up on the floor

It's time for you to move your feet

Dance with me pretty boy tonight

Dance with me and we'll be alright

There’s a whole floor before us, just for you and me

So follow my lead and we'll one two three

What do you do when the music stops

What do you do when the music stops

What do you do when the music stops

What do you do when the music stops

Pull shapes

Clap your hands if you want some more

Pull shapes

Clap your hands if you want some more

Pull shapes

Clap your hands if you want some more

Pull shapes

Clap your hands if you want some more

Clap your hands if you want some more

Clap your hands if you want some more

Dance with me baby boy tonight

Dance with me and we'll be alright

There’s a whole floor before us, just for you and me

So follow my lead and we'll one two three

Pull shapes!

Dance with me baby boy tonight

Pull shapes

Dance with me and we'll be alright

Pull shapes

There’s a whole floor before us, just for you and me

Pull shapes

So follow my lead and we'll one two three

Pull shapes

08. Nerina Pallot - Everybody's Gone To War

"Everybody's Gone to War" is a Pop rock song written and recorded by the London-born and Jersey-raised singer-songwriter Nerina Pallot.

The song, an anti-war protest, was written during the early stages of the Iraq War in 2003, and was composed on bass guitar by Pallot. The song was issued on downloads only in March 2005, and the following month saw a commercial release on Pallot's album Fires.

After the album proved a commercial flop, Pallot toured as a support act for an array of other artists, and in 2006 was signed to 14th Floor Records, impressed by reaction to her live sets. They reissued the album to greater success in the spring, and released Everybody's Gone to War as a commercial single on May 22, 2006, on the back of performances on Top of the Pops and GMTV, as well as a successful radio play hit, the song reaching #3 in the UK airplay chart. In commercial form, the single entered strongly at #37 on download sales alone, and the following week jumped to #14, making it her highest chart peak to date.

The single was also accompanied by a memorable video, with the 'war' theme extended to a supermarket, where Pallot and other shoppers engage in a 'war' with food.

Lyrics:

I've got a friend, he's a pure-bred killing machine,

He says he's waited his whole damb life for this,

I knew him well when he was seventeen,

Now he's a man; he'll be dead by Christmas.

And so...

Everybody's going to war,

But we don't know what we're fighting for,

Don't tell me it's a worthy cause,

No cause could be so worthy.

If love is a drug, then I guess we're all sober,

If hope is a song then I guess it's all over,

How to have faith, when faith is a crime?

I don't want to die...

If God's on our side, then God is a joker,

Asleep on the job, his children fall over,

Running out through the door and straight to the sky,

I don't want to die...

For every man who wants to rule the world,

There'll be a man who just wants to be free,

What do we learn but what should not be learnt?

Too late to find a cure for this disease.

And so...

Everybody's going to war,

But we don't know what we're fighting for,

Don't tell me it's a worthy cause,

No cause could be so worthy.

If love is a drug, I guess we're all sober,

If hope is a song, I guess it's all over,

How to have faith, when faith is a crime?

I don't want to die...

If God's on our side, then God is a joker,

Asleep on the job, his children fall over,

Running out through the door, and straight to the sky,

I don't want to die...

I-I-I-I don't want to die,

I-I don't want to die...

I've got a friend, he's a pure-bred killing machine,

I think he might be dead by Christmas...

07. The Feeling - Never Be Lonely

"Never Be Lonely" is a song by The Feeling. It is the third single from their debut album Twelve Stops and Home, and was released on August 28, 2006. It entered the UK Singles Chart at #24 on 27 August 2006 based on download sales alone. The following week it climbed to #12 as a physical single was now available. The song climbed into the top ten of the UK singles chart in its third week, peaking at #9. The song's electronic organ touches are reminiscent of Supertramp, a band The Feeling have stated as one of their major influences.

The B-side "All You Need to Do" originally appeared on the original "Fill My Little World" release.

The setting of the video switches from desert to commuter scenes such as the London Underground, changing back and forth with the varying mood of the song.

It has sold around 96 700 copies in the UK since its release.

For several weeks in November Heart 106.2 shortened the song considerably by shaving the stuttering section which occurs in the chorus from the song.

Lyrics:

People in love get fast and foolish

People in love get everything wrong

People in love get scared and stupid

People in love get everything wrong

At least they're not lonely

At least they're not lonely

Never Be Lonely

BBBBaby I think I'm going CCCCrazy

And why should I be sane without you

They tell me to fight it

But they can bloody well just try it

Ill never be the same without you

People in love get special treatment

People in love get everything wrong

People in love their hearts get eaten

People in love get everything wrong

At least they're not lonely

At least they're not lonely

Never Be Lonely

BBBBaby I think I'm going CCCCrazy

And why should I be sane without you

They tell me to fight it

But they can bloody well just try it

Ill never be the same without you

Never Be lonely

06. Take That - Patience

"Patience" is a song released by the British boy band Take That. "Patience" is the first single from their returning-album Beautiful World. It debuted at number four on the UK Singles Chart and rose to number one in its second week. The video is based around the four members (excluding Robbie Williams) coming from different places to meet up on a rock and sing with pyrotechnics blasting up behind them.

It has also topped the charts in Germany & Switzerland, and has been a Top10 hit all over Europe.

Lyrics:

Just have a little patience

Still hurting from a love I lost

I'm feeling your frustration

But any minute all the pain will stop

Just hold me close

Inside your arms tonight

Don't be too hard on my emotions

Cause I.........

Need time......

My heart is numb, has no feeling

So while I'm still healing

Just try........

And have a little patience

I really wanna start over again

I know you wanna be my salvation

The one that I can always depend

I'll try to be strong

Believe me I'm trying to move on

Its complicated but understand me

Cause I.........

Need time......

My heart is numb, has no feeling

So while I'm still healing

Just try........

And have a little patience

Cause the scars run so deep

It's been hard but I have to believe

Have a little patience

Have a little patience, woah

Cause I, I just need time

My heart is numb, has no feeling

So while I'm still healing

Just try and have a little patience

Have a little patience

My heart is numb, has no feeling

So while I'm still healing

Just try and have a little patience

05. Sandi Thom - I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker

"I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker (with Flowers in My Hair)" is the debut single performed by Sandi Thom. The song is credited to Thom/Gilbert. EMI Music Publishing identifies Tom Gilbert as Ian Brown, Thom's manager. The song was originally released in October 2005 by Viking Legacy records, reaching #55 in the UK singles chart. It was re-released in May 2006 on Sony's RCA label. It was on the ARIA Charts for ten weeks at number one.

Although only released physically on 22 May in the UK, download sales the week before are counted for the purpose of charts, and it achieved #15 on this basis in the general charts (and #7 in the download-only chart). The physical release had three formats: two CD versions (one featuring the radio mix and "A Light As Bright As Ours", another featuring the radio mix, the album mix, a further remix, "May You Never" and the video), and also as a 7" vinyl record backed with Stranglers cover "No More Heroes". The song has been playlisted on BBC Radio 2, Virgin Radio and Capital Radio.

The single sold 39,797 copies in the week ending 4 June 2006, enough to reach #1, knocking Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy" off the top spot after it was withdrawn following a nine week run. It has also topped the Irish & Australian charts (for ten weeks - It is Australia's biggest selling single of 2006).

Finally, it has recently been parodied in Australia as "I Wish I Was a Pommie Cricketer (with Ashes in My Hand)" To celebrate the Aussies regaining the Ashes in latest Test Series versus England.

Lyrics:

[Chorus:]

Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair

In '77 and '69 revolution was in the air

I was born too late into a world that doesn't care

Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair

When the head of state didn't play guitar

Not everybody drove a car

When music really mattered and when radio was king

When accountants didn't have control

And the media couldn't buy your soul

And computers were still scary and we didn't know everything

[Chorus]

When pop stars still remained a myth

And ignorance could still be bliss

And when god saved the queen she turned a whiter shade of pale

My mom and dad were in their teens

And anarchy was still a dream

And the only way to stay in touch was a letter in the mail

[Chorus]

When record shops were still on top

And vinyl was all that they stocked

And the super info highway was still drifting out in space

Kids were wearing hand me downs

And playing games meant kick arounds

And footballers still had long hair and dirt across their face

[Chorus]

I was born too late into a world that doesn't care

Oh I wish I was a punk rocker with flowers in my hair

04. Embrace - Nature's Law

"Nature's Law" is a song by British band Embrace and is featured on their fifth album, This New Day. It was released 20 March 2006 as the lead single from the album, charting at number 2 in the UK Singles Chart, the band's highest chart entry to date.

The song is about not hiding your feelings and not trying to push them away; "you have to follow nature's law". You must let nature (your heart) take over and not use your head to make your decisions.

There was some controversy over this song charting at number 2 in the UK. Ne-Yo's song "So Sick" beat it to number 1, but according to some sources, a large count of legal downloads was lost and not registered in the official charts. If these downloads were counted, then Embrace would have achieved their first Number 1 single.

Lyrics:

I tried to fight the feeling, the feeling took me down,

I struggled and I lost the day you knocked me out,

Now everything’s got meaning and meanings bring me down,

I’m watching as a screening of my life plays out.

Every day I fight these feelings,

For your sake I will hide the real thing,

You can run all your life or mine, I will chase...

You should never fight your feelings,

When your very bones believe them,

You should never fight your feelings,

You have to follow nature’s law.

I’ll live with never knowing, if knowing’s gonna change,

I’ll stop the feeling growing, I will stay away,

Like a broken record stuck before a song,

A million beginnings, none of them the one.

Every day I fight these feelings,

For your sake I will hide the real thing,

You can run all your life or mine, I will chase...

You should never fight your feelings,

When your very bones believe them,

You should never fight your feelings,

You have to follow nature’s law.

I wrote her letters and tried to send them,

In a bottle I placed my hope,

An SOS full of good intentions,

Sinking, will you give in to me,

Don’t make me wait,

You build me up, knock me down,

But I will stand my ground,

And guide this light that I’ve found.

You should never fight your feelings,

When your very bones believe them,

If you let them show you’ll keep them

I have to follow nature’s law.

Lyrics:

So I found the reason to stay alive

Try a little harder see the other side

Talking to myself, too many sleepless nights

Try to find a meaning to this stupid life

I don't want your sympathy

Sometimes i don't know who to be

[Chorus:]

Hey, what you’re looking' for?

No one has the answer, they just want more

Hey who's gonna make it back?

This could be the first day of my life

So I found the reason to let it go

Tell you that I’m smilin', but I still need to grow

Will I find salvation in the arms of love?

Will it stop me searching?

Will it be enough?

I don't want your sympathy

Sometimes I don't know who to be

[Chorus:]

Hey, what you're looking' for?

No one has the answer, do you just want more

Hey who's gonna make it back?

This could be the first day of my life

The first time to really feel alive

The first time to break the chain

The first time to walk away from pain

[Chorus:]

Hey, what you're looking' for?

No one has the answer, will you just want more

Hey, who's gonna make it back?

This could be the first day of your life

Hey, what you're looking' for?

No one has the answer, they just want more (ooh, yeah)

Hey, who's gonna shine a light?

This could be the first day of my life

02. Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars

"Chasing Cars" is the third single from Snow Patrol's fourth album, Eyes Open. It was released on July 24, 2006 in the United Kingdom, as the album's second single.

The song was first heard on the band's 2005 Final Straw tour, when they began playing it, along with two other newly written songs ("Your Halo" and "It's Beginning to Get to Me") they intended to release on their upcoming album. Since then, the composition of the song was changed slightly, and most of the lyrics were rewritten.

"Chasing Cars" pushed its way onto the download and pop charts in the United States after it was heard in the second season finale of the popular television show Grey's Anatomy on May 15, 2006. Owing to the song's surprise popularity, it was released as an overlapping single in early June and the video was re-recorded to include clips from the show. The video failed to catch on, regardless, so a third version was filmed for the edited single version of the song. On September 13, 2006, the song soared in the digital music charts to become the most-downloaded song in the U.S. iTunes Store, just one day after the DVD release of the second season of Grey's Anatomy. It was nominated for a 2007 Grammy Award for "Best Rock Song". It has peaked at UK#6 & USA#5.

Gary Lightbody, frontman of Snow Patrol, says it is the "most pure and open love song [he's] ever written." The phrase "Chasing Cars" came from Lightbody's Father, in reference to a girl Lightbody was infatuated with, "You're like a dog chasing a car, You'll never catch it and you wouldn't know what to do with it if you did."

The band played "Chasing Cars" on a recent appearance on Late Night With Conan O'Brien.

The song was also featured during a highlights package at the end of the final episode of Big Brother UK Series 7.

A trance version of the song was recently remixed by Blake Jarrell & Topher Jones. It aired on the highly popular trance radio show A State of Trance on August 17, 2006.

Lyrics:

We'll do it all

Everything

On our own

We don't need

Anything

Or anyone

If I lay here

If I just lay here

Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

I don't quite know

How to say

How I feel

Those three words

Are said too much

they're not enough

If I lay here

If I just lay here

Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told

Before we get too old

Show me a garden that's bursting into life

Let's waste time

Chasing cars

Around our heads

I need your grace

To remind me

To find my own

If I lay here

If I just lay here

Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told

Before we get too old

Show me a garden that's bursting into life

All that I am

All that I ever was

Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see

I don't know where

Confused about how as well

Just know that these things will never change for us at all

If I lay here

If I just lay here

Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

01. Amy Winehouse - Rehab

"Rehab" is the first single from Amy Winehouse's album Back to Black. It debuted at #19 in the UK Singles Chart based solely on downloads and then climbed to #7 the following week with the release of the CD. This was Winehouse's highest chart position by 50 places.

The song was written about Winehouse's refusal to attend an alcohol rehabilitation centre after her management team encouraged her to go. "I asked my dad if he thought I needed to go. He said: 'No but I should give it a try.' So I did, for just 15 minutes. I went in said 'hello' and explained that I drink because I am in love and have f***ed up the relationship. Then I walked out." Winehouse later changed her management company.

In November 2006, an early demonstration version lacking the horn section and originally played on Mark Ronson's East Village Radio show was released on iTunes. Girls Aloud performed a cover of the song on Radio 1's Live Lounge (with Jo Whiley) on November 10, 2006. Paolo Nutini performed his own cover on the same show on December 6, 2006.

Lyrics:

They tried to make me go to rehab

I said no, no, no.

Yes I been black, but when I come back

You wont know, know, know.

I ain’t got the time

And if my daddy thinks im fine

He’s tried to make me go to rehab

I wont go, go, go.

I’d rather be at home with ray

I ain’t got 70 days

Cos there’s nothing, nothing you can teach me

That I can’t learn, from yester halfaway

Didn’t get a lot in class

But I know it don’t come in a shot glass

They’re tryin to make me go to rehab

I said no, no, no

Yes I been black, but when I come back

You wont know, know, know.

I aint got the time,

And if my Daddy thinks im fine,

He’s tried to make me go to rehab,

I wont go, go, go.

The man said, why you think you here?

I said, I got no idea

Im gonna, im gonna lose my baby

So I always keep a bottle near

Said, I just think you’re depressed

Kiss me, yeah baby

And the rest

I’m tryin to make me go to rehab

I said no, no, no

Yes I been black, but when I come back

You wont know, know, know

I don’t ever wanna drink again

I just, ooo, I just need a friend

Im not gonna spend 10 weeks

Have everyone think im on the mend

It’s not just my pride

It’s just til these tears have dried

They’re tryin to make me go to rehab

I said no, no, no

Yes I been black, but when I come back,

You wont know, know, know

I aint got the time,

And if my daddy thinks im fine

He’s tryna make me go to rehab

I wont go, go, go.
