#5 Summer of love

 

Its time to announce my top 5! Kicking off at #5 is the Latin inspired Sunmer of love. What a great release for them! Colorful, uplifting and a slightly less campy Steps. I was happy I got the single send to me as they stopped releasing most singles in the rest of Europe. Loved this one from the beginning and still do to this date :heart: I think, like some other song that got released later in their career, this could’ve been a nice hit in Europe/Australia/NZ. And, poor Lee for not being happy with his small part in the song. Luckily they sorted that out with the reunion!

 

Why?

-Saving the release imo. WISG alone wouldn’t be enough.

-The intro.

-The colorful video.

I didn’t really like Summer Of Love when it first came out 20 odd years ago. Since they’ve reformed though I I’ve really come to enjoy, probably,y not in my top 10 but would be close I think.

 

I also agree I think if released in Australia this would’ve been a nice top 50 hit.

I enjoy WTFH pt. 2 more as an album but part 1 had the stronger single releases. Like this tune :heart: Loved it from the first listen and still do :heart: This is what Steps do best! A glorious popsong with a nice and campy video. They really elevated the original imo as it suits them so well. So happy that we got more tracks like this with their comeback! And..their styling has really improved from the old days I must say!
