Oh I am loving this.

When I first started listening this morning, I was a little underwhelmed, but it got me by the second verse and I have listened a few times since and watched the video a couple of times.

It's has a great, chilled-out vibe and doesn't feel too far removed from Fine Line.

And Harry Styles is far too attractive for his own good, to be honest

Didn't 'Watermelon Sugar' get one or am I imagining it?

It got a couple of vinyl variants and a cassette but no CD!

I’m liking the sound of this. His last era really felt like he had multiple #1 singles from it too so I’m here for this becoming his first solo #1 since his debut

From Hits Daily Double

With "As It Was," Columbia superstar Harry Styles is in the running for the biggest single-day streaming total in the history of Spotify, possibly surpassing Adele's single-day total for "Easy on Me."

Though numbers are still being tabulated, our statisticians tell us that the first-day activity on this song is through the roof. As we reported earlier, "As It Was" is also killing it at other DSPs, while the video is racking up giant numbers on YouTube. The track is likewise blowing up at Pop radio, flying toward the top of the chart.

Could Harry's new one become the biggest song of 2022? We wouldn't be remotely surprised. Stay tuned.

“As It Was” debuts at #46 on US Pop Radio today with 504 spins & 1.496M audience impressions;

It took me 3 listens before I realised that the track did not actually start with a child saying “Come on Harry we want to take a knife to you”

Broken the record for biggest single-day streams on Spotify for a song by a male artist with 16.1 million streams! 4th biggest peak on US Spotify too, over 6x as many streams as #2, and over double #2 in the UK.
I like this! The synth riff is a bit reminiscent of A-ha's Take on Me and there's a slight Scandi-pop vibe to it, which is always a great resemblance, and the song itself is definitely quite timeless in sound. Not got a big chorus, but I think the subtlety works in its favour here. I mean I might tire of it later, but I'll take him dominating the charts over Ed Sheeran easily x

I've only been able to hear it as this all day since reading this

Loving this so much, I'm hearing a lot of early 10s indie-pop (very Two Door Cinema Club) in it tbh. I'm glad it's smashing so instantly and effortlessly - Fine Line obviously surpassed all expectations so I can't even begin to imagine how big this era will be! :o

I don't think the first two days of the first single indicate much about the era.

Just like Easy on Me smashed but the 30 era itself doesn't seem to be bigger than it predecessor and we've seen numerous cases like that before

As for the song, it's brilliant but once it has got going it doesn't really build on and ends so soon. It's probably not a bad thing for radio and streaming but it doesn't really have the evergreen vibe that Watermelon Sugar has in it either.

Yes. Nobody else seems to hear take on me
