doesn't mean she's not popular, if she did a tour she'd sell better than most artists on the singles top 40 these days

Radio 1 has always been like that though. 10 years ago this week the likes of Michael Kiwanuka, The Maccabees and Hooray For Earth were A Listed amongst "the hits"

Yeh that’s what distinguishes BBC radio from commercial it promotes new artists amongst the chart hits which is a good thing imo. No indie artist would be close to the A List if it was just about chart position, they also consider concert sales and album sales when promoting artists.
