The best thing about Now Yearbook 1990 is the inclusion of Wicked Game which I don’t think has ever appeared on a compilation before

Looks like it was only on a couple of albums in the early 90s:

This is its first appearance in a very long time though, and first on a Now, I wonder why it's finally been able to be licensed now.

They clearly have gone all out to try and get the correct single edits where they can on the Yearbooks (unlike on the re-released numbered albums, and the generic spin-offs) - I don't think the Bananarama, Heart, Alannah Myles, Innocence and En Vogue single edits are on Spotify, and that's where the Yearbooks have a lot of value in filling gaps in collections.

It’s nice to see that Wicked Game has appeared on other compilations even if it was a long time ago. I remember the Parra For Cuva cover version from 2014 appearing on near enough every compilation. Clicked the first link and he did appear on the Q compilation but with Blue Hotel which also appeared on Now 19 and could appear on any of the 1991 yearbooks

Now Yearbook Extra 1990 has been leaked with a release date of 8th March. I think they’re now doing the extra yearbooks 5 weeks after the main yearbooks as extra 1973 followed 5 weeks after main 1973. Dub Be Good To Me and Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter still missing and I was expecting the latter to be included as Iron Maiden appear frequently and it reached #1 at the end of 1990. I was expecting Now 12" 80s 1982 Part 2 to be announced next but I reckon that one will be announced next week but here it is https://nowmusicwiki.com/index.php?title=No...90_(UK_2024_CD)

Interesting tracklist, I wonder what the issue was with Beats International then, it's never been an issue to license before.

I don’t understand why Dub Be Good To Me still isn’t on there as it did appear a few months ago on Now 40 Years 1983-1993. And I was expecting Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter to be on there as Iron Maiden are now appearing frequently and the song peaked at the end of 1990. Maybe they’ll be included on Now Yearbook 1990-1994 if they ever do one

Pavarotti and Status Quo also absent, although not sure I've ever seen the latter on any compilation.

No Instant Replay by Yell either, i don't think that has appeared on a compilation album even in 1990!

Status Quo still appear on compilations but mainly 70s and 80s compilations. The only other compilation apart from Now 18 which has The Anniversary Waltz is the 10th anniversary edition of Now 1990. And as for Dub Be Good To Me, I wonder if it will remain on the re-release of Now 17 if they do re-release it along with Now 117 when that gets released

How many “Final Chapter” releases have we had so far? Is it just the one? Just wondering if that holds out any hope for any of these missed tracks in the future.

We only had 1980-1984 and I reckon we’ll get 1985-1989 once the 80s yearbooks are complete

There was an Extra to that as well, so plenty of mopping up.

I suppose the PSB hits missed from years gone, plus of course George Michael singles that haven't yet appeared, will be big candidates for opening the 1985-89 editions if/when they come.

Oh yes I forgot that there was even an Extra edition to that volume as well. :o

I wouldn’t rule out a Deluxe Decade edition for 1980-1989 once this decade is all over.

Oh including the extras of course. West End Girls, Opportunities and Suburbia will most likely appear across the main and extra 1985-1989 yearbooks. Now Bruce Springsteen is appearing on compilations, Dancing In The Dark might appear on any of the 1985-1989 yearbooks as that peaked in 1985

Just imagine years from now if Now miraculously got the rights to music from an artist like Michael Jackson or Madonna… they would recommission this series all over again.
I’m just glad that Jane Child got included on Now Yearbook Extra 1990 as that song reminds me of the video game GTA 5. I’m expecting Skin Trade and All She Wants Is to appear on any of the 1987 and 1989 yearbooks, respectively seeing as they seem to love Duran Duran but a bit odd not including A View To A Kill on any of the 1985 yearbooks. I reckon that will appear on any of the 1985-1989 yearbooks

Official release date is 15th March, so six weeks after the main Yearbook.

Still no sign of the La’s or Bell Biv Devoe on there and also, the next yearbook follows usually 3 weeks later so 5th April will most likely be the next yearbook. Close To Me is the third song to appear on multiple yearbooks after Knock On Wood and Pretty In Pink and saying that, Cruel Summer and Pop Muzik could be next if both songs also appear on any of the 1989 yearbooks and I’m surprised it’s been changed to 15th March seeing as Now first had it down for 8th March. I hope that we get Now 117 on 22nd March and part 2 of Now 12" 1982 on 29th March too
