#24 - This Heart Will Love Again

 

 

I feel this one may not be as positively received as #25 but for me 'This Heart Will Love Again' just edges it out, and that's down to nostalgia. From when I first got 'Step One' for Christmas 1998 until probably 2017 this was my favourite album track from the album and close to my favourite from the album. I had this on loop summer 98/99 and whilst it's dropped in my rankings since then it still makes it to a respectable 24th place.

Another good song from a great album.

Back to you is a really nice and uplifting song from their debut! Great way to start the countdown. It just missed mine actually so I understand the difficulty of choosing the songs ;)

 

Don’t enjoy This heart will love again that much, sorry. I don’t mind the song, it’s their singing that turns me off a bit.

 

Looking forward to the rest though!

#23 - Say You'll Be Mine

 

 

At #23 I have the first single of the countdown. Say You'll Be Mine was released around Christmas 1999 (or January 2000 in Australia) and I quickly came to love this song. The video was my favourite of theirs at the time and I loved how all of them (ok well at the time Lisa) got some lines in the song. Peaking at #21 in Australia it fell just short of becoming another top 20 hit for them.

Aww, SYBM! Cute song and video. Glad it was a small hit for them outside the UK. Could’ve been bigger though with some promo. Their last hit here in the Netherlands :o the only thing I don’t enjoy is the styling :P

I've always lived say you'll be mine and I think other fans have got to like it more in the later years.

#22 - Neon Blue

 

 

At #22 we have the first of the 'New Steps' era dropping out. I'll admit when I first heard Neon Blue I wasn't a fan, I'm not really sure why. Since the Steps forum has launched though and I've read many posters insights into the song and gone back and listened to it again (multiple times) I have really come to enjoy and appreciate this magnificent song. A very positive song that is very fitting of Steps in their new sound. Plus all members get their chance to shine as well. What's not to love.
