Posted March 30, 20223 yr Hi all! Hope this is ok to post in here (I think people have advertised Uni-related things on here before?) please feel free to move if not. I’m currently working on my final year project where I’m looking at tools to determine the difficulty of Super Mario levels. To do this, I need to carry out user studies to determine which levels people see as the most difficult, and so I need people to play some levels I have set out and rank them in order of difficulty. The full details of the study can be found on the webpage but it basically involves downloading a .jar file and playing the five levels which appear on it. I would be incredibly grateful if you gave it a go, please do let me know if anything isn’t working as it should or is unclear, and if there’s anyone else you think would be interested in playing a video game in the name of academia do let them know. (Unfortunately you have to be over 18 to take part, I know that’s a bit annoying but that’s ethics for you) The link is here: https://peteleeds.github.io/Uni_Project/ Thanks!
March 31, 20223 yr Of course! Completed all the levels a couple of times, it's an interesting study, hope what I had was useful. I like platformers so this was fun, but this is doable in half an hour or less.
April 6, 20223 yr Author I'm still very much looking for people to give this a go if anyone has the time available - thank you to people who have had a go already!
April 11, 20223 yr Author No worries! I should say you don't need anything other than a computer (and Java, which you can install) to take part, but fair enough if you're not familiar with the game, that would probably make it a little more difficult.
April 14, 20223 yr I would like to help with this as I grew up on Mario games, but need to wait until I get a chance to dig out my non-work computer.
April 15, 20223 yr Author That would be great Julian! I've not set a 'closing date' for the study yet but I'll make sure I post here before that happens ^_^
April 30, 20223 yr Author Keep forgetting to say I'll probably be closing this in the next few days - I do now have enough data to have produced some results though so thanks to those who took part!
