It took a while for it to show up but '2step' is now higher on US Apple Music than it is in the UK (#92 vs. #103) so maybe the play for the Lil Baby audience is working at least slightly. (#92 at this stage is not great for a new Lil Baby song on US Apple Music though).

Laroi hasn't shown up on Apple Music UK yet which surprises me, he's song #1 on the advertised New Music Daily playlist and I don't believe he'd be doing badly enough to not be top 200 by now. He's not top 200 in the US yet either, though he's #26 in Australia

Obviously Laroi's showing up on Apple Music now but he's charting twice in the US, seems the explicit and clean versions aren't combined so that explains his lower position  :drama:

It's #47 now, actually way higher than I thought as it's such a random new version that no one asked for.

on Apple:

10 NEW Potter Payper

60 NEW George Ezra

62 NEW Liam Gallagher

65 NEW PinkPantheress

70 NEW Ed & Lil Baby

80 NEW Sigrid

97 NEW Kid Laroi

at least Kid Laroi is now top 100 but really thought it would up in the top 10 by now

Laroi's only had two top 10 hits, one of them debuted there but it had Justin Bieber attached (and to be fair, STAY is also one of the biggest streaming hits ever). This is his first new solo single since he blew up and it was never going to debut as high as the top 10, especially when none of the F*CK LOVE 3 album tracks could crack the top 40. If he debuts top 40 that will be awesome and I'm hoping he'll be doing a bit better on Spotify!

New music need do well this week hope 5 new entry 40 plus 2 climb from 10 things I hate about you and big Energy

If like yesterday not be happy

Joseph will never agree with your analysis

You ignore ignore the last hit the make the artist megafamous and moved it to the next level

it was the same with Harry Styles now, I said this is gonna be huge and debut at #1

and you were like no no he has never debuted at #1 in the last era

and I was like yes but last era ut it at a higher level of superstar

you never take that into account

I don't think this is a fair representation and you seem to be looking at things on a very black and white level, without taking context into account. STAY had a huge debut, of course it did, it had the hype of Laroi coming off WITHOUT YOU mixed with a huge name in Bieber, and a LOT of pre-release hype. It has since gone on to become the fastest song to reach 1 billion streams on Spotify and it's already in the top 30 most streamed songs ever on the platform - it's a gigantic hit, one that most artists don't get to repeat.

Thousand Miles is coming off that, which is surely giving it a helping hand, but it's also worth noting that it's Laroi's first (pre-album) release on his own since SO DONE at the end of 2020, which was obviously before he blew up. Let's take that and his first chart hit, GO, for comparison. GO debuted at #43, with Laroi having never charted before. However, the track had a Juice WRLD feature which naturally propelled it higher. SO DONE came out five months later, with a #11 mixtape and a middling hit in GO under his belt, and debuted... lower, at #57. Why? Because it's a solo track! Collabs always garner more initial hype and attention and you have to take that into consideration here too. Before we see its Spotify debut, I expect Thousand Miles to debut higher than SO DONE (and GO for that matter), but to expect it to debut as high as STAY is unrealistic no matter how big STAY was. He's a big name now but he's not Harry Styles, Ed Sheeran or Adele and I don't think he ever will be. If it were as black and white as "their last hit was gigantic so this must be too", then why hasn't GAYLE had a second hit by now? Even more appropriate a comparison, why hasn't Fireboy DML's latest single charted?

As for Harry, let's look at what I actually said because you've wildly misinterpreted me.

I'm not going to say it's a guaranteed #1, that's almost jinxing it, but I do think Harry has a good chance of reaching the top with As It Was. The level of hype is extremely high and I don't think the lack of #1s from the Fine Line era means anything - the biggest hit was post-album and we know Watermelon Sugar vastly overperformed for a post-album single (as did both Falling and Golden, in an era where post-album singles seem dead in the water for the most part). Watermelon Sugar is now the biggest 1D-related hit and Fine Line's had a better run than most albums in recent years, plus his profile has only grown too. Nothing's guaranteed but I think he's in as good a position as possible!

To summarise, I said, pre-release, that Harry wasn't a guaranteed #1 but that he had a high chance of making it. I actually said that the lack of #1s in the Fine Line era wasn't relevant when it had five gigantic hits regardless. I think you're forgetting to take actual facts into account here.

Let's be real, the biggest reason for Kid Laroi's underperformance is Joseph not changing his username.

This is what happens when my two faves are both active at the same time! I'm already panicking about my End of Year chart for 2022 x

Spotify updated... not the greatest start for George Ezra, #132, though it's technically a grat and still has (Tiger Lily) to compete with.

Not sure if the two parts of Gangsteritus will be combined, they'd be #5 if so.

New ones!

14. The Kid LAROI - Thousand Miles

19. Potter Payper (feat. Nines & Tiggs Da Author) - Gangsteritus Part 2

35. Ed Sheeran (feat. Lil Baby) - 2step

64. PinkPantheress (feat. WILLOW) - Where you are

95. Sigrid & Bring Me The Horizon - Bad Life

132. George Ezra - Green Green Grass

141. Florence + The Machine - Free

146. Liam Gallagher - Better Days

177. Benzz - Je M'appelle

189. JBee & Mixtape Madness - Next Up - S4-E2, Pt. 1

Pusha T:

61. Dreamin Of The Past (feat. Kanye West)

76. Rock N Roll (feat. Kanye West & Kid Cudi)

87. Neck & Wrist (feat. JAY-Z & Pharrell Williams) (RE)

98. Brambleton

105. Let The Smokers Shine The Coupes

107. Scrape It Off (feat. Lil Uzi Vert & Don Toliver)

145. Just So You Remember

169. Diet Coke (RE)

The Kid Laroi's 3 top 10 hits in the US were all assisted by bigger names (Juice Wrld/Miley/Justin Bieber) it will be interesting to see how he does solo... wouldn't surprise me if he attaches a bigger name to this remix in the next few weeks.

Looks like 'Gangsteritus Part 2' has a decent chance of making the top 40 anyway as a separate entry (and if combined should give the song a new peak) - wasn't expecting it to debut that high on Spotify as I think Potter and Nines have historically usually been bigger on Apple.

Pusha T's album maybe coming to contend for #2 this week? His last album only got to #13 but it was very highly acclaimed, and of course the sales needed for #2 this week are likely to be pretty pitiful. I guess there are one or two other new releases that could possibly be doing 6k+ pure sales. (Fontaines D.C. safely lapping the field you'd think of course).

Poor Megan not done anything

As she always does when not assisted by a massive TikTok trend or Dua Lipa :P

'2step' has debuted higher in the US than the UK on Spotify as well (#27 there today), still don't see it catching on that much but it definitely seems to be breaking through to the Lil Baby fanbase a lot more than I would have predicted!

(By comparison, 'The Joker And The Queen' w/ Taylor debuted at #6 on US Spotify which was lower than it debuted here)
