April 30, 20223 yr Author This is your 1 week warning folks if you intend to vote! But interesting results so far but let's see if we can get 20 voters!
May 5, 20223 yr I did most of the groundwork for this a few weeks ago. I got as far as a shortlist of 32 but hadn't sorted the final couple of cuts or the order. The fact that there'll only be about 20 voters makes me feel doubly responsible for voting wisely! ^_^
May 5, 20223 yr Votes sent! Creating that list has put me in a huge 80s mood now  very strong top 30.
May 7, 20223 yr Author VOTING CLOSED PEEPS (although I will accept any votes received for the next few hours). Eliminations will commence at 6pm tonight with those zero pointers!
May 7, 20223 yr Author So we had 24 voters in all- thanks very much peeps! There are a total of 33 No 2 hits which got zero points- the first half of the decade zero pointers incoming..
May 7, 20223 yr Author NO 140- ZERO POINTS 1980-1984 More Than I Can Say Leo Sayer (#2 for 1 week in August 1980 behind “Use It Up & Wear It Out” by Odyssey) The permed one would be back at No 1 in 2006 but this was as near as he got in the 80s. DISCO Ottawan (#2 for 3 weeks in October 1980 behind “Don’t Stand So Close To Me” by The Police and “Woman In Love” by Barbra Streisand) Camp classic alert but none of you were impressed. What You're Proposing Status Quo (#2 for 2 weeks in November 1980 behind “Woman In Love” by Barbra Streisand) Classic rockers have another track left but this one left you cold You Drive Me Crazy Shakin Stevens (#2 for 4 weeks in May/ June 1981 behind “Stand & Deliver” by Adam & The Ants) Shakey may have a great 1981 with two chart toppers but this one missed out to Adam & The Ants. You didn’t like it but it seems it drove you crazy- not to worry he has three other tracks in contention More Than In Love Kate Robbins & Beyond (#2 for 1 week in June 1981 behind “Being With You” by Smokey Robinson) Actress in “Crossroads” who Is also a cousin of Paul McCartney and provided the voices for many of the Spitting Image puppets in the 80s. Her 80s single clearly isn’t rated here though. Stars On 45 Vol 2 Starsound (#2 for 2 weeks in July 1981 behind “Ghost Town” by The Specials) We can allow one medley from this lot to get a point but the follow up gets the cold shoulder. Daddy's Home Cliff Richard (#2 for 3 weeks in December 1981 behind “Don’t You Want Me” by Human League) Hardly a festive favourite but this spent 3 weeks in runner up spot for Christmas 1981. Just An Illusion Imagination (#2 for 1 week in April 1982 behind “Seven Tears” by Goombay Dance Band) Renowned for their TOTP performances this was as near as they got to No 1. This Time (We'll Get It Right) England World Cup Squad (#2 in May 1982 behind “Ebony & Ivory” by Paul McCartney & Stevie Wonder) Proving that football records before “World In Motion” were always dodgy here’s the 1982 effort. Not getting it right with you guys. Blue Christmas Shakin Stevens (#2 for 2 weeks in December 1982 behind “Save Your Love” by Renee & Renato) Techncally an EP without an official name, the lead track was “Blue Christmas” which was a cover of a song covered by Elvis- inspired……..thought no-one rating. Bad Boys Wham! (#2 for 2 weeks in June 1983 behind “Every Breath You Take” by The Police) No takers for this Wham! single which was their biggest hit at this point. It probably has dated the worse of their entries. Tonight I Celebrate My Love Peablo Bryson & Roberta Flack (#2 for 1 week in September 1983 behind “Red Red Wine” by UB40) Pretty much forgotten about now….. Joanna Kool & The Gang (#2 for 2 weeks in March 1984 behind “99 Red Balloons” by Nena) Probably the more famous of the double A-Side tracks but less popular here! A Love Worth Waiting For Shakin Stevens (#2 for 2 weeks in April 1984 behind “Hello” by Lionel Richie) A clean sweep of Zero’s for Shaky on this rate- meanies Hole In My Shoe Neil (#2 for 3 weeks in July/ August 1984 behind “Two Tribes” by Frankie Goes to Hollywood) Yes, you had to be there and clearly we weren’t The War Song Culture Club (#2 for 1 week in October 1984 behind “I Just Called To Say I Love You” by Stevie Wonder) Not one of their better efforts and it shows with this snub.
May 7, 20223 yr Ooh yay thank you for providing the songs that blocked these from the top too! Poor Shaky
