Not bad I have to say! Nice tracklistings that don’t forget a song. I enjoy the cover but the title is indeed not that original.

Any news if this gets a release outside the UK?

I'd be the same plus for me part 2 is the better of the two albums.

Hopefully something soon, I tried ordering thru the website and isn’t shipping to Canada
Thanks for letting us know, Platinum Bundle ordered!! With $63 to ship to Canada

why does lee only have 1 extra song lol

another greatest hits isn't needed... all their tours are anniversary tours at this point anyway. think they need to decide if their a legacy act or really stick with the new music. releasing new music and then seeing a greatest hits show is completely offputting for me and one of the reasons i didn't go to their last tour. i really don't need to see 'stomp' performed again.

It’s their first greatest hits since they reformed 5 years and it’s their 25 year anniversary, so it’s perfectly acceptable and understandable to release a greatest hits.

I also think it’s a good way to introduce the casuals that may purchase this to their newer songs, ones they may not have heard much of. That could in turn lead to a slight increase in sales of their three recent albums.

Not meaning to be rude, just trying to come at it from a different angle.

^ Agreed!

When it comes to touring... firstly, the What the Future Holds tour wasn't an anniversary tour. It wasn't promoted as such. There was an emphasis in the promotion that they'd be performing "all the hits", but no anniversary taglines. Same for Party on the Dancefloor tour, even though that happened to fall in their 20th year. It's only this summer 2022 tour of festivals and pride events that is coinciding with a milestone anniversary.

Regarding their set lists, Steps/their team must be very conscious that the majority of people attending are there specfically for the nostalgia side of things, rather than to hear an album track from What the Future Holds Pt. 2. That's a shame for hardcore fans, of course, but I understood why Steps want to avoid alienating the main chunk of the audience by performing too many non-classics.

For the average person there, any or all of these songs - Heartbreak in This City, Neon Blue, Take Me for a Ride, Something in Your Eyes, The Slightest Touch, A Hundred Years of Winter and Scared of the Dark - would likely come across as being "new" songs. Many audience members wouldn't have heard them before, or at least they'd be far less familiar with them than "the Steps classics". So I guess Steps felt that including all these modern singles was as far as they should push it.

I always find it a joy to see Steps, and the new arrangements of the classics helps to keep things fresh at each different tour, so I can personally deal with the lack of album tracks. I can't help but feel that the crowd atmosphere during album tracks would have been a major lull. You could kind of sense the audience's mood of ??? with some of the songs I listed above. In an ideal world all those people would actually listen to their new albums before going, but most clearly do not.

So far it seems that there's healthy demand for this new Greatest Hits. Since it was announced it's been consistently within the Top 2 on iTunes pre-orders. I think many fans are excited by some of the older hits being on vinyl for the first time. I don't think it's unnecessary. When it's released it'll be just shy of 11 years since their last compilation was released. At least this one includes all the modern singles. Having a new GH be prominent on streaming platforms should in theory give them a streaming boost.

P.S. Lee has three extra songs on his CD, they all do!

I agree, I think it's a great way for casuals to get to hear the newer songs and also think some casual buyers are in for a real treat .

I kinda see both sides of the argument here but I won’t lie, it’ll be amazing to have the old tracks on vinyl!
I thought they’d announce it with this tbh. They won’t get as many sales now in my view!

Don't know if this adds to the discussion or not but I was talking to a good mate of mine on Instagram yesterday about the fact S Club 7's "Sunshine" is out on vinyl next week at HMV for the first time, and how we were both excited about that.

I mentioned in passing about this new Platinum Collection - which she wasn't aware of - and she's subsequently gone off to pre-order the silver swirl vinyl. So there you go, an example of a casual conversion!

I like to hear of the casual conversion, we need loads of them on board, but good promo will really help with that which i think will happen.

Same! I think some hardcore fans will buy the albums so that should be enough?
