April 22, 20224 yr Just had a quick look through this thread and for the umpteenth week running songs that have been around for EVER are mostly climbing or falling 1-3 places. Was it this tediously dull the last couple of years, it didn't seem that way? I wonder what's caused the 2008-style slowdown.
April 22, 20224 yr Still in the clurrb... That's 7 songs in a row climbing 1 place, I dare say that's probably never happened before (although of course we'd rather it hadn't happened this week).
April 22, 20224 yr We literally would have had a static top 14 had Lost Frequencies not gone to ACR! Peak 2016 vibes.

Born Adedamola Adefolahan, he grew up singing in church, started making music while at university, and eventually was signed by Nigerian rapper Olamide’s independent label, YBNL Nation. “Jealous,” his 2018 breakthrough single, won Listeners’ Choice honors at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards Festival, presented by a popular African music TV channel. Within three days of its release, Fireboy DML’s 2019 debut album, Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps, garnered more than six million streams on a single music service. In July 2020, his “New York City Girl” reached No. 11 on Billboard’s Top Triller Global chart, and a month later, “Eli” peaked at No. 7 on the same chart. His sophomore album, APOLLO—featuring guest turns by American rapper D Smoke and Nigerian singer Wande Coal—rose to No. 14 on Billboard’s World Albums chart in 2020. - Apple Music Ed Sheeran There’s a lovely moment a little ways into Apple Music’s Songwriter documentary about Ed Sheeran in which Sheeran, jet-lagged and carrying a cup of tea, straggles out into a yard in Malibu at dawn, sits down at his laptop and begins writing a song about the moment right in front of him: the crisp air, the birdsong, the hot tea, the day ahead. He gets a full verse in, melody and all, then pauses. “Songs are weird things,” he says. “How so?” an interviewer asks. “They just come and go,” Sheeran says, smiling. “And they never give you any warning.” For Sheeran, they seem to come pretty reliably. Born in 1991 in Halifax, England, he started out gigging on the UK pub circuit before releasing his first studio album, +, in 2011, and has since become one of the most unstoppable singer-songwriters in music, forging a light blend of folk, pop, hip-hop and dance that feels slick but lived-in, intimate but universal. Whether on his own (“Sing”, “The A Team”, “Shape of You”, “Perfect”) or in collaboration with artists from Taylor Swift to Eminem to Justin Bieber, Sheeran has a unique ability to strike a chord that feels both bittersweet and redemptive, good-natured and genuine: the hopeless romantic who convinces you he might just be right. In 2017, he was made a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, touching Prince Charles on the arm while shaking his hand—a breach of royal protocol, and an appealingly human one at that. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History Fireboy DML 2021 02 Peru (Fireboy DML & Ed Sheeran) -NAS- 0 x #1 | 1 x Top 5 | 1 x Top 10 | 1 x Top 20 | 1 x Top 40 | 1 x Top 100 Ed Sheeran 2011 03 The A Team -1- MILLION SELLER 2011 35 Hush Little Baby (Wretch 32 feat. Born David Orobosa Omoregie in Brixton, London in 1998, Dave suddenly implanted himself in the UK rap scene in 2016, first with the electric grime alliance “Thiago Silva” with AJ Tracey and then when Drake jumped on the remix of the velvety “Wanna Know” from Dave’s first EP, Six Paths. Rebuffing label advances to pursue his career independently, he demonstrated a self-reliant streak on releases such as his 2017 EP Game Over, whose “Question Time,” a scathing attack on Theresa May’s Conservative government, garnered him an Ivor Novello songwriting award. Dave’s full-length debut, the Mercury Prize winner Psychodrama, followed in 2019; epitomizing his achingly honest rap style, it laid bare personal vulnerabilities while challenging institutional racism in a provocative fashion rarely heard in British rap. The centerpiece of the lavishly soundscaped album was “Black,” a heart-wrenching portrait of the prejudice affronting Black lives. At the 2020 BRIT Awards, where Psychodrama won Album of the Year, Dave started his performance of “Black” by accompanying himself on piano and ended it by excoriating British Prime Minister Boris Johnson as a “real racist” and executing a perfect mic drop. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History 2017 51 Wanna Know (feat. April 22, 20224 yr Author 03 | 04 | 6th week Aitch and Ashanti Baby 4th single from forthcoming studio album Released: 10th March 2022 Label: Capitol UK Records Chart Statistics NE (24/03/2022) | 2-2-2-3-4-3 Sales: 200k+ Certification: Silver Status: Standard Chart Ratio 03 Sales 02 Audio Streaming 02 Video Streaming Video dTdUqNE35S4 Biography Aitch Navigating rap stardom is a tricky thing, but Aitch has it down pat. He’s chameleonic like the pop stars he collabs with, gritty like the grime artists that inspired him. Born Harrison Armstrong in Manchester in 1999, Aitch grew up removed from the London scene, where grime blossomed during his formative years, but soaked up the music from afar. Then, as a teenager, he started rapping, building a following online with his snaking flows and dizzying rhyme schemes. Things took off in 2018 when he dropped his menacing debut single “Straight Rhymez”, and Aitch has since risen to the pantheon of hip-hop. In tracks like the 2019 remix of Ed Sheeran’s “Take Me Back To London”, you’ll hear his transition away from grime to sticky pop-rap, but his dexterous raps remind that he hasn’t lost touch with his roots. - Apple Music Ashanti One of the best-selling singers of her era, Ashanti shot to fame as the soulful, soprano counterpart to hard-rhyming rappers before coming into her own as a solo artist. Born in Glen Cove, NY in 1980, Ashanti Douglas grew up acting and dancing, then turned her attention to singing in her teens. Working with Murder Inc.’s Irv Gotti, she found stardom by nearly upstaging Ja Rule and Fat Joe on their 2001 singles “Always on Time” and “What’s Luv?” then made her solo mark with the defiant hit “Foolish.” With these tracks, she became the second artist—after The Beatles—to have their first three charting songs simultaneously occupy the Top 10. Ashanti didn’t slow down with her Grammy-winning 2002 self-titled debut, which sold over a half-million copies in its first week, then a record for a female debut artist. She continued her platinum-selling run with 2003’s Chapter II and the following year’s Concrete Rose, but financial and creative disputes with Gotti eventually slowed her music career. She returned to acting, appearing in musicals and movies, before coming back with 2014’s expansive Braveheart, which featured Rick Ross and French Montana. Since then, she’s released singles like 2017’s “Say Less” with Ty Dolla $ign and 2019’s upbeat "The Road" with Afro B. Those tracks make it clear—Ashanti hasn’t lost any of the unmistakable vocal prowess that made her a beloved R&B force. - Apple Music Top 100 Chart History Aitch 2019 73 On The Way Home (JayKae & Aitch feat.
