April 29, 20223 yr Personally I don't like this mid-tempos with gospel-ish tones I'd rather have a classy ballad or a crazy uptempo but not something in the middle that goes nowhere Really think it's a waste of song I very much agree with this. I love both the Too Good At Goodbyes type song and the Dancing With A Stranger upbeat tracks but this is in the middle and just bland. I think if the production was a bit fuller I’d enjoy it more.

Mid-tempo songs with gospel-ish tones very rarely work, even Liberty X - Song for lovers wasn't great :D This does not even feel like an album track let alone a lead single and sadly I see it disappearing without much impact. Only thing I can think of is that they wanted to release the song as it means a lot to them as it clearly is not a big enough song for a 1st single.
April 29, 20223 yr It sounds like something I learned on my keyboard in secondary school. Some of the lyrics are so clunky too, disappointing when they had some real progression on the last album.
April 29, 20223 yr The label must feel differently As they are treating it as the lead rather than just a buzz With lots of checks already sent to Spotify
April 29, 20223 yr Yeah this isn't doing it for me either :( it'd be cute as an album opener but Sam is capable of so much more, the upbeat tracks on their last album prove that. Give us another Diamonds / Dancing With A Stranger!
April 30, 20223 yr This has grown on me, but is still more of a cute album track rather than big comeback lead single. I can't see it having much commercial success, so hopefully they've got something better planned for single 2.
May 1, 20223 yr Down to #185 on Spotify today despite a reasonable HHUK placement, not a great start.
May 1, 20223 yr Maybe they are a bit of a nostalgia act to people already? The debut album is constantly doing well on album chart but how about the newer music?
May 1, 20223 yr Maybe they are a bit of a nostalgia act to people already? The debut album is constantly doing well on album chart but how about the newer music? I do think this is the case unfortunately. Like who is Sam Smith's audience in 2022 that want a mid tempo self love song?? It's just not popular anymore. The only way I see them getting another hit is sticking with the DWAS/HDYS style pop.

The song is going decent on AM (#50) & ITunes (#13) “Bluebird” is the one that’s gonna be an banger, June 24th https://twitter.com/smithcharts/status/1515...GK8Zt1ZvpAvgPWA https://twitter.com/smithcharts/status/1520...GK8Zt1ZvpAvgPWA
May 1, 20223 yr REF: Deleted post (so no one in this thread anymore) We don't need to be insensitive about Sam's pronouns just because Demi has decided to change theirs (which isn't even a problem in itself - so mocking them for it is bizarre too). Next time, you'll receive an official warning.
