March 20Mar 20 I got an early screener of the finale and it's one of my favourite episodes of TV ever.
March 22Mar 22 Author I think I preferred Season 1 as a whole but that was a great finale. It set up the 3rd season in a roundabout way, but even if it did not get renewed it ended perfectly as a finale too.Must admit I've no idea where the show goes from here (although clearly Gemma and Irving will cross paths.. at least that's where I am expecting that to to). So many great shots, the final scene was fantasic and the Innie/Outtie vs Gemma/Ms Casey was fantasic. Was probably a little disappointed with the Cold Harbor reveal as I thought it may be something bigger.. but such a show. I'm waiting for the Mr Milchick memes to come out again.
March 22Mar 22 Renewed for a third season, hooray! Hopefully doesn't take three years this time xWhile I did prefer Season 1 as a finale and overall, this was a quite spectacular finale just about everything thrown in and a fantastic top off to the season. Innie and Outie Mark having that recorded conversation was so hypnotising seeing two completely different mindsets not quite seeing the other's perspective despite being the same, he made each one so distinctive as well so real credit to Scott. The ending cliffhanger felt like a real culmination of that and sets things up well.As well as all the drama and action, it did bring the humour too. The office fighting with the band thrown in was wonderfully bonkers and Milchick was on top form. Cobel's intentions remain a real mystery to me, and I'm interested to see where she goes from here. If there's one flaw in this season, it's that I found her focused episode to be less of a convincing back story, certainly not compared to Gemma's devastating and stunning hour before that, and she clearly still can't catch a break! My heart was in my mouth for poor Emile, a true GOAT in every sense xI too am a little unsure what it will do from here, especially as the whole concept has really been a bit upended by the diverging paths of the main four, but the quality of this season has certainly given hope it can continue.
March 23Mar 23 What a finale! I laughed so hard when outie Mark accidentally fired the gun thingy upon appearing. The Gwendoline part stole the episode as always and coupled with the marching band shenanigans, it was probably my favourite 20 minutes of the whole show so far.The switching between innie and outie in different constellations was such an interesting dynamic, I hope they explore it a lot more next season.
March 25Mar 25 I am re-watching S1 because I miss it so much, and it's quite jarring watching it after how tight and concise everything is in S2, from the writing to the cinematography. There's even a scene with Helena in episode 2 where she's acting like Helly, Milchick calls her Helly and is acting like Milchick is her superior, it's really jarring going back to it considering how perfect the Helly/Helena stuff was in S2. I think some of the storytelling in the first 3 or 4 episodes is a little flimsy in season one, but once Reghabi shows up it finds its footing a bit more. I'm still enjoying my rewatch regardless, even though it has highlighted how much more well thought out season 2 was from start to finish. Spending time with Irving's innie again is a joy. April 12Apr 12 Binged this over the past week and I was so gripped. The writing, the concepts, the acting, the direction... it's all so meticulously crafted! Both finales were gripping, I was gobsmacked when the season 1 finale ended as it felt like there was still 20 minutes left, I hadn't looked at the time once! The ORTBO and Gemma episodes in season 2 were major highlights too. I didn't enjoy Cobel's episode of season 2, it was quite dull even if there were a few interesting nuggets of information in there, but that's the only blip across the whole thing.Hard to single anyone out for giving the best performances when everyone plays their part, but Tramell Tillman embodied Milchick so flawlessly, a fantastic "love to hate" character and so many nuances and flaws communicated with ease. The dance routines too
