November 29, 20222 yr Shame all the way over missed the top 100 on Friday I was hoping it would sneak in. Nah but it had the biggest iTunes boost from Strictly which is great.
November 29, 20222 yr I don't know what to expect so I had a little gander. It’s #2 on iTunes pre-order after Leftfield. On Amazon the Standard (unsigned) CD is charting at #19 which is the highest # for a pre-release and I swear 2 weeks ago it said it was sold out. On Amazon the Exclusive Signed Blue Vinyl is charting at #53 which is a re-list after the first batch sold out (I think that peaked #10 or #12). The Standard (unsigned) Vinyl is charting at #3368 which is the same price as the Signed Exclusive. The main focus is on his store bundles which include cassettes. I remember he said “the album is out November 18th it’s well exciting and the pre-orders are looking really good” and his manager set him daily targets for the CD and vinyl art cards to not get behind while on tour. :funky: Edited November 29, 20222 yr by Megg065
December 3, 20222 yr I don’t know what this is based on exactly but Sam was on BBC Radio Essex and he said his album was close to :no1: and thanked his hometown for their support.
December 3, 20222 yr All pre orders probably have him the current number 1 and unless his numbers are higher than we expect I can't see him holding on, hopefully top 5 or higher is safe.

None of us know the pre-orders but other artists don’t get this “He might be number 1 but he won’t stay there” shade. I’m sure his label know what they are doing. December 3, 20222 yr None of us know the pre-orders but other artists don’t get this “He might be number 1 but he won’t stay there” shade. I’m sure his label know what they are doing. Based on what he said before I think his record label is aiming for an undisclosed # pre-orders rather than “It’s release day and we are number 1 on iTunes btw can everyone stream” attitude. The sales money is significantly higher and it would be a mighty success story for BBC Eurovision and his record label to have a new artist, almost unknown back in March, with a #2 debut single BPI Gold and #1 debut album 7-8 months after Eurovision. December 6, 20222 yr His version of jingle bells is 64 in todays mids, hopefully it can stay top 100.
December 6, 20222 yr Sam was crowned TikTok’s “Most Popular UK Artist” in 2020 and in 2022 he’s named as one of TikTok’s “Breakthrough Artist of the Year” 👑 I know it’s a little obvious but that’s progress… 🤩 Edited December 6, 20222 yr by Chloe00x
December 7, 20222 yr It looks like Sam has sold out his HMV instore signings. It must have been the puppy dog eyes earlier "Hey. Don't leave me on my own, click this link and come hang out with me  ". I don't know if he will add any more he seems quite busy with album and non-album stuff. http://i.ibb.co/JkzXG4p/112212.png
December 7, 20222 yr This weeks number one is probably only going to sell 25k so with the lack of competition in the album market this year, I’d be surprised if this wasn’t in the top 3 at least next week.
December 8, 20222 yr I don’t dare predict Sam’s sales because even though I follow him (not like a stalker) he’s a complete anomaly. He definitely does have fans who will respond and he sold out a Europe tour (20 dates) and 2 London dates (1800 capacity) with no fuss and no album announced. I literally know people who have purchased 10 albums because of his staggered promotion. His journey has been crazy, I’m happy for him and he deserves success! I really hope he’s inspired other singer-songwriters not to give up on their dreams. Oh, he said he isn’t bothered about streaming but still reaches his fans. Edited December 8, 20222 yr by Chloe00x
December 8, 20222 yr If I had to predict I'd say 20k, but it could be more or less. Whether that is enough to overcome Taylor Swift as Christmas gets closer I don't know, but if it's close I guess he'll push as hard as possible so could get up towards 25k unless I'm overpredicting it. Which is quite mad really for a singer who came to prominence commercially via being the UK's Eurovision entry. If any of our last few entrants had even got close to releasing an album on a major label, I doubt it would have troubled the top 100.
December 8, 20222 yr What will help is Parlophone have plastered a bright blue "The Debut Album from the Artist of the Year" sticker on it  I'm currently listening to the album in order to see what the flow is like and only Sam Ryder could make a gospel chorus followed by a shredding bluesy guitar solo work. It's a solid album, I like it and his voice is amazing
December 8, 20222 yr I would think he has a pretty good chance of getting the #1 album but after how everything else has gone for him this year it's hard to shake the feeling that it'll inevitably end up #2
December 8, 20222 yr David Smyth fancies himself as a comedian. SPACE MAN brings back fond memories of that moment in May when we realised there is at least one British person that the rest of Europe doesn’t dislike. The impact of Ryder’s voice ranges as wide as his flawless smile and pulls off some mighty tricks. He may look like he should be hustling punters to try trapeze yoga at a minor music festival but he needn’t worry about returning to obscurity. There’s more than enough here to keep that Eurovision glow going well into the future.
December 9, 20222 yr I think Sam will smash it. Gonna predict 50k and no1 for first week! Album sounds amazing too. Best thing out in Q4 By a long shot.
December 9, 20222 yr Guardian don't think so  I like how they criticised the "non-sensical lyrics" of Tiny Riot while praising Space Man when the first line is "If I was an astronaut I'd be floating in mid-air". Anyway basically the consensus is "safe debut" and "impossible to dislike Sam".: Guardian - 2/5 Times - 3/5 Irish Times - 3/5 Evening Standard - 3/5 Metro - 3/5 NME - 4/5 Edited December 9, 20222 yr by Megg065
December 9, 20222 yr Some quite harsh scores, yes it is a safe debut but a very enjoyable one, I listened to it on the way into work. Put A Light On Me sounds like a good single in studio version, although I stand by my earlier remark that it sounds like The Police crossed with Rudimental's Lay It All On Me. Deep Blue Doubt and OK I enjoyed a lot, Tiny Riot has always been good, and Space Man and All The Way Over are two of the best singles of the year. But I liked everything, apart from Somebody and Living Without You which both just remain a little average to me (the latter I'm sure would sound better without the vocal chopping in the chorus). Yes there's room to improve but I have no doubt his songwriting will just grow stronger, as evidenced by Mountain, performed at his shows.
