Kaisers return with "Ruby"

(Tuesday December 19, 2006 12:19 AM)

The Kaiser Chiefs have announced details of their comeback single, "Ruby".

The band, who yesterday announced details of a string of dates in America in 2007, will release their first new material in over two years in February.

"Ruby" is the first fruits of The Chiefs' currently untitled new album, which follows 2005's global breakthrough "Employment" and is now believed to be complete.

As reported yesterday, The Kaiser Chiefs' North American tour calls at:

April 2007

13 New York Roseland Ballroom

18 Toronto Kool Haus

20 Chicago Vic Theatre

27 San Francisco Warfield Theatre

"Ruby" is released on February 19 on limited edition 7" and CD, with a digital download available one week earlier.

Looking forward to it :D

Kaiser Chiefs - Ruby Lyrics

Dadadaa, dadadaa

Dadadaa, dadadaa

Let it never be said that romance is dead

Cos theres so little else occupying my head

There is nothing I need 'cept the function to breathe

But I’m not really fussed - doesn’t matter to meeee

Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby

Ahaa-ahaa-aaah

Do ya, do ya, do ya, do ya

Ahaa-ahaa-aaah

Know what ya doing, doing to me?

Ahaa-ahaa-aaah

Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby

Ahaa-ahaa-aaah

Due to lack of interest tomorrow is cancelled

Let the clocks be reset and the pendulums held

Cuz theres nothing at all except the space in between

Finding out what you’re called and repeating your name

Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby

Ahaa-ahaa-aaah

Ah Do ya, do ya, do ya, do ya

Ahaa-ahaa-aaah

Know what ya doing, doing to me?

Ahaa-ahaa-aaah

Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby

Ahaa-ahaa-aaa, aaa- aahh

Could it be, could it be that youre joking with me

And you don’t really see you with me

Could it be, could it be that you’re joking with me

And you don’t really see you with me

-Instrumental-

Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby

Ahaa-ahaa-aaah

Do ya, do ya, do ya, do ya

Ahaa-ahaa-aaah

Know what ya doing, doing to me?

Ahaa-ahaa-aaah

Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby

Ahaa-ahaa-aaah

Do ya, do ya, do ya, do ya

Ahaa-ahaa-aaah (Da da daa)

What ya doing, doing to me?

Ahaa-ahaa-aaaa, aaah (Da da daa)

Wonder what it sounds like? :o

Are they going for a 'step-up' from their old stuff like Arctic Monkeys are, or will it be more of the same?!

The new songs I heard them play at Reading (not including 'Ruby') didn't seem like too much of a departure.

It will be odd hearing Kaiser Chiefs with new material, probably in the same way it was odd to hear Keane and Scissor Sisters with new stuff after their massive debuts.

Looking forward to it though ^_^

i like dthe kasiers first album but it wasnt brilliant either

Yeah it was massively over-rated and over-played :(

I dunno what to think of this.

I've heard a bit of it and I didn't really like it. :( I liked most of there albums but I thought there album was all a bit rubbish and I go off the singles way too easily. :(

I Predict A Riot is played to death, and they still seem to play it to death, well up until the end of summer they did

This will be interesting to hear, some fresh material is definately needed

It's not actually going to be playing until Monday ;)

I've heard it. It is brilliant.

It was played unannounced by the Editors on Tuesday or Wednesday evening on Radio 1.

I can't quite remember - I think about an hour and a half in. I remember going to the bathroom, and then the track played & I thought hang on that sounds like the Kaiser Chiefs, and when it got to the chorus I was aware that it was the new single.

Anyway, to save you searching - listen to this:

Just watched/listened to the You Tube clip! Hmmm, well I'm sure it'll grow on me. I admit, I'm from Leeds so I'm a bit biased about the Kaisers. Employment was a great album though - probably the one I played most last year. But, as with the Killers perhaps, they've got a lot to live to!
