My ReviewNow That’s What I Call Music! 107 or Now 107 was released in the Autumn of 2020 as the final volume of the year. It contained 43 tracks and a total of 6 UK #1 singles from the era. As at the time of this review, Tate McRae is the only artist debutant who has gone on to feature again in the Now series.

The most striking omission from the era would eventually feature on the next volume, and that was a big hit for Miley Cyrus. However, there were also omissions from the likes of Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, BTS, Drake, Ritt Momney, Headie One and a Top 10 single from BBC Children In Need.

This volume is the only so far to feature music from leading artists Paul Woolford, Keith Urban, Paul Harvey, DaBaby, Internet Money, 24kGoldn, Conan Gray, Ashnikko, Wes Nelson and Pop Smoke.

Artwork Rating: 7/10 Very Good

Are they strobes or rings? It's hard to tell for sure, but it's a shiny cover this one, and inducive of a party atmosphere! There's not really much to say about it, but the use of many colours is a good thing.

Disc 1 Favourite: Paul Woolford & Diplo & Kareen Lomax – Looking For Me

A firm favourite of 2020, and one that delighted me to make a surprise chart appearance during this time. I didn't really know music from Paul Woolford before this so it was a good introduction, and it helped to get Diplo back in with the hits again.

Disc 2 Favourite: Dua Lipa – Hallucinate

It is somewhat of a disappointment that this song only managed to peak at #31 as it was a big highlight of the album for me. However, it was perhaps overshadowed by other singles from Dua Lipa which were still performing well at the time, and not enough time was allowed for it to make a real chart impression. It is still a great song from her.

Disc 3 Tracklist:

(A concept of what a third disc might look like if other hits from the era were used)

1. BTS – Dynamite 3:19 {3}

2. Justin Bieber feat. Chance The Rapper – Holy 3:32 {7}

3. BBC Children In Need – Stop Crying Your Heart Out 3:44 {7}

4. Taylor Swift – cardigan 4:00 {6}

5. Ritt Momney – Put Your Records On 3:30 {25}

6. Fleetwood Mac – Dreams 4:17 {35}

7. Royal Blood – Trouble's Coming 3:48 {46}

8. Bring Me The Horizon & Yungblud – Obey 3:41 {37}

9. Travis Scott feat. Young Thug & M.I.A. – FRANCHISE 3:23 {26}

10. Headie One, AJ Tracey & Stormzy – Ain't It Different 3:16 {2}

11. Pop Smoke feat. Lil Tjay – Mood Swings 3:33 {5}

12. Tion Wayne feat. MIST – Deluded 3:01 {26}

13. Drake feat. Lil Durk – Laugh No Cry Later 4:21 {4}

14. Juice WRLD & The Weeknd – Smile 3:16 {23}

15. Jorja Smith feat. Popcaan – Come Over 3:28 {35}

16. Saweetie – Tap In 2:19 {38}

17. BLACKPINK & Selena Gomez – Ice Cream 2:56 {39}

18. David Guetta & Sia – Let's Love 3:21 {53}

19. Diplo & Sidepiece – On My Mind 3:09 {57}

20. Love Regenerator & Steve Lacey – Live Without Your Love 3:35 {75}

21. Prospa – Ecstacy (Over & Over) 3:37 {77}

22. Ella Henderson x Roger Sanchez – Dream On Me 3:02 {DNC}

23. Steps – What The Future Holds 3:49 {DNC}

----------

Total time: 1:19:58

Overall Rating: 7/10 Very Good

A big improvement overall on the previous volume by including more chartable songs, and all six UK #1 singles from the era. There's little to fault it really, but there are still quite a lot of "filler" songs on the second half of Disc 2. I have little complaint about the omissions of the time, but Steps would have been a DNC I would like to have seen added to Disc 2.

Yeah weirdly it’s been credited to simply BBC Children in Need, but all the articles (even ones from the OCC) refer to it being by BBC Radio 2 Allstars - so that’s a strange situation!
Wow, I actually really like that tracklist. 'WAP' should be highlighted in red, by the way!
