Posted July 21, 20222 yr 17th July 2022 It's straight in at 1 for a record that topped my charts for weeks when I first started experimenting the idea of putting the UK top 30 singles into the right order according to what I liked in late 1968 aged 10, and Barry Ryan's epic Eloise was right on top, as written by his brother Paul, and one I've always felt is grand and cinematic in scale, and deserving of a movie feature. I finally got my wish as I watched Edgar Wright's Last Night In Soho this week, a great film with an impeccable 60's soundtrack, it really is cherry-picking a bunch of pure-class tracks, and not just the obvious famous ones. Cue, in at number 2, Last Night In Soho by the woefully under-rated Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich. When I heard of the title of the film I was peeved it didn't appear on advanced tracklists, since it obviously inspired the movie. So I entered it into BJSC for justice to be done. Turns out it's over the closing credits, so all is forgiven, and it had already topped my charts for 10 weeks as an oldie having been denied chart places in 1968 (too early for my first charts) and 1976 (I bought it then but oldies weren't allowed in my charts). Other tracks from the movie are lower down for Dusty Springfield, and Peter & Gordon, both fab, while The Lovin' Spoonful features in an episode of The Umbrella Academy. Bob Marley has been given the orchestra treatment and Satiisfy My Soul is back 44 years later. Duran Duran make it 4 top 10's in a row, Simple Minds get their first top 20 track in 7 years for a span of 40 years, Bakermat get 2 in the 40, as do DNCE, while Calvin Harris enters a new all-star-line-up for 2 in the chart as well. This time Justin Timberlake gets his first listing in a while, Halsey gets a second on the chart, and Pharrell stretches his run to 19 years. Michelle Branch is new at 29, the highest non-oldie, I'm A Man returning her after a 19-year absence, for a 5th hit, including a number one with Santana, The Game Of Love in 2002. Mabel seems to be getting some social media hassles, hopefully Overthinking new in with 24Goldn is some compensation, and Richard Marx is also back for a 35th year or so with his delightful new track Same Heartbreak Different Day. Jessie Ware keeps 'em coming, Free Yourself, Beyonce gets her first lead credit in 6 years with Break My Soul, for 2 decades of chart entries solo, 25 years near-enough including Destiny's Child. July 22, 20222 yr Hello John! I'm glad for your comment about afraid to feel, on your last chart. It's by no means #1 worthy in my opinion. It is good though. Easy Lover is fantastic from Ellie. Without a doubt her best in a long long time. That's a very late entry for Sia. I never got round to chatting it and then by the time I was gonna, it had been out for ages. No one dies from love climbing :wub: it's fallen for me this week but with 4 weeks at #1, it's had a great run. Free Yourself is a good one. Unfortunately it just missed my new playlist date so it gets added next week. I'm glad that Break My Soul has finally entered your chart. It's superb honestly. I'm excited to hear her album. Fab chart ^_^

It was fab! :) Shame we both weren't in the same then as my points would have got you qualified - even high points wouldnt have saved Yoko though! :lol: Yoko has had 54 years-worth of slagging off so I always like to support her :dance: Plus I went past Sandbanks last week where she and John used to own the house that John's Aunt Mimi lived in till she died. Ooh snap with Game Of Love then, I'm glad Michelle did the vocal her voice suited it better than Tina's would have! Ellie's seems to have pleased everyone, but no-one's streaming it - presumably they still havent forgiven her for all those annoying adverts! Cheers! B-)
