August 3, 20222 yr Alzheimer's is such a horrid horrid disease, my grandmother has it and she has forgotten all of us including the husband she was married to for 70 years, utterly heartbreaking. I went to visit her today and we had the same conversation over and over and over again for an hour: "oh your face looks familiar I know you don't I?" "yes I am your grandson I have come to visit you" "Oh I know that voice too yes yes you are I remember now, oh they are all going to be so jealous when I get back home and tell them I met my grandson today, I don't live here you see I am on holiday but I am going home soon" Move the conversation onto the weather or Cliff Richard her favourite artist then: "oh your face looks familiar, I know you don't I?"...

This is so hard to deal with, enjoy the good times with your grandma while you still have her.
August 4, 20222 yr Yeah, it was the same with my grandma, she passed away 3 years ago. It's heartbreaking but we always tried to remember to not confuse her too much and focus on things that bring her joy - like music does for Tony.
