September 23, 20231 yr I remember back in the 90s (yes old here) that Vernie and maybe Easther were really homophobic in interviewssaying that its "Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve" so was surprised there was a reunion at all with that history. Also, why are they pretending that they are OK with gay people now but not trans. Seems like always bigoted.
September 24, 20231 yr Easther and Vernie firing Kellé by fax 25 years ago and feigning innocence about it when confronted about it on their series of The Big Reunion means them being exposed as transphobes is not surprising. Good on Lou and Kellé for doing what is right though. And I hope Mighty Hoopla etc book them both next year to really rub salt in the wounds of the Bennett sisters.
September 24, 20231 yr That would be ICONIC if Mighty Hoopla did that. I mean Louise could totally headline it on her own anyway, and Kelly could do the Eternal songs on her own (perhaps Louise joins for a duet)
September 25, 20231 yr ^ Louise has already played Mighty Hoopla (at least) twice. Third time lucky then!
September 25, 20231 yr Louise Redknapp accused of 'throwing bandmates under the bus' in row over trans rights I think it's safe to say there will never be an Eternal reunion.
September 25, 20231 yr I've long been of the view that the sisters are evil based on their actions over the years, this is almost like a final confirmation.
September 26, 20231 yr These extracts from the autobiography of the late Jazz Summers, who managed Eternal when it was just a duo in 1999, has gone viral on Twitter. It is delicious as you would expect: @1706258677299081495
September 26, 20231 yr Louise Redknapp accused of 'throwing bandmates under the bus' in row over trans rights I think it's safe to say there will never be an Eternal reunion. Yuck at the comments below the article bashing Louise and defending the Bennets. And the Mirror is supposed to be broadly LEFT wing. :manson:
September 26, 20231 yr This is how you be an ally, she really has showed up for the trans community and I'm so proud of her because (unfortunately and wrongly so) she will get a lot of backlash for it
September 26, 20231 yr Author A lot of the replies to Louise’s tweet are so disturbing. :( Worryingly these days it seems that a celebrity explicitly standing up for the LGBTQ+ community is actually more damaging for their popularity than particularly beneficial - so I have to respect Louise for putting her morals above all else. Same for Kelle. It really seems like it’s mainly Vernie who has been the problem for Eternal over the years - the horror stories of diva behaviour tends to centre around her, and even now, the current manager of Eternal specifically says it’s Vernie who has grievances about “the trans lobby”. Easther always gets lumped in with her as being “difficult”, but industry insiders are generally kinder about her and have respect for her talent. I’m sure I read somewhere that Louise said she was very close to Easther during her time in the group. The odd thing is that Vernie is, from my point of view, the least essential member, quite a spare part. I think the problem is that Easther will always align herself with her sister, and I get it, they’re family. From a career point of view I believe Vernie has held Easther back, and even now is doing so by derailing the opportunity of a reunion.
September 26, 20231 yr I don't think Louise's position on this will necessarily lose her fans or anything like that, given the type of fanbase she has. But absolutely good on her though!
September 26, 20231 yr Honestly the more you read about it the worse it gets. Good on Louise this is like Melanie C pulling my out of that New Years performance, true LGBTQ allies. Edited September 26, 20231 yr by spiceboy
September 26, 20231 yr Author Melanie C says she has cancelled a performance in Poland on New Year's Eve after being made aware of issues “that do not align with the communities I support”. She did not elaborate but was praised by allies of the LGBTQ+ community. https://amp.theguardian.com/music/2022/dec/...attention-lgbtq
September 27, 20231 yr Ah amazing, always knew Mel C was a good egg. She signed up for the New Years concert in Poland then found out from tweets that the show was homophobic and transphobic so pulled out stating it wasn't in line with communities she supported. Apparently the show claimed they were going to sue her for breach of contract.
