To be fair you’re unlikely to see Olly Murs on the Radio 1 playlist either.

Spotify isn't ageist as much as restricted to specific genres. David Guetta is 100 years old and always gets great playlisting just because his songs are easiest possible EDM.

They have the new song by Blue on the playlist so surely it must be an error because Olly is more relevant than them I would say.

Guetta is the exception to the rule, but he has been ignored for the last five yers until suddenly last year he became semi-relevant again.

 

but whenever Pink, Mariah, etc releases a new single, Spotify gives them the shitty treatment cos they're old acts. It's even worst with indie artists, a legend like Bjork comes back with a new song, theres a lot of buzz online, but Spotify doesn't care and the song is track #88 or something on NMF :/ c'est la vie sadly :/

Yes I've just seen they've added him. They'd obviously just overlooked it initially, but good to see they've rectified their error, I'm really liking the song!

I’d argue The Wombats are far more relevant tbh, they’ve done very well to capture younger listeners in the last 5 years or so! Including their biggest gig ever this year at the O2.

I am loving the new Måneskin song "The Lonelinest" it wouldn't be out of place on an MCR album. It should do well as it's taking off on TikTok already.
