Posted October 8, 20222 yr As we enter the final (and arguably most interesting) quarter of the music year, here is my top 50 songs of the year so far! Now, I have a system to measure chart points; if a song is at #1 it gets 50 points, if it is at #2 it gets 48 points and so on. But to make it an "even playing field" each month that songs enter they get bonus points. eg. Febuary songs get +25, September songs get +200. However looking through the chart, this system benefits newer songs more (eg. a song that only reached #5 with 11 weeks on chart is currently above one of the early #1s that has spent 21 weeks on chart) so by my end of year top 100 countdown this system should be adapted to be fairer! for now though this chart has the bonus points system! Numb Little Bug - Em Beihold Total Chart Points [YYD]: 396 1fwJ8H5wWCU Chart Run: 29-41-39-38-18-7-6-9-13-13-12-22-34 Numb Little Bug first looked like it was gonna be a bottom of the chart song, until it grew on me massively, vaulting it into the top 10! It just about scrapes the Top 50, but should comfortably make the End Of Year Top 100!

Colours Of You - Baby Queen Total Chart Points [YTD]: 398 HQxzUyAZqJ8 Chart Run: 1-4-7-8-20-25-29-29-x-43-47 Baby Queen's original song for Heartstopper topped the chart when the show was released and became her first of 2 #1s and also first of 4 top 10 hits so far in 2022!

The current #1 and joint longest running #1 of the year, Mary On A Cross rose after going viral on TikTok! Already in the YTD Top 50 after only 5 weeks on chart, i think it has a strong chance of making the EOY Top 20, or even top 10!

Rina Sawayama Total Chart Points [YTD]: 399 hw_Gtwdnp1Q Chart Run: 8-12-11-12-25-27-31-22-23-24-32-25-25-28-33-41-x17-47 Charli XCX's biggest hit on the chart is the Rina Sawayama assisted Beg For You, and it kick-started a huge year for Rina, with her album Hold The Girl currently still doing hugely well in the chart and giving her a further 4 Top 10 hits!

We Don't Talk About Bruno - Carolina Gaitan, Mauro Castillo, Adassa, Rhenzy Feliz, Dianne Guerrero, Stephanie Beatriz & Encanto Cast Total Chart Points [YTD]: 402 bvWRMAU6V-c Chart Run: 21-10-4-2-1-4-7-13-17-22-38 The world-famous We Don't Talk About Bruno from Disney's Encanto spent 1 week at the top of my chart and 6 weeks in the top 10! And although it was nowhere near as big on my chart as on the UK chart, it broke several records - The first soundtrack song to top my chart and the largest number of artists on a #1 single.

October 9, 20222 yr Author #43. 2 Be Loved (Am I Ready) - Lizzo Total Chart Points [YTD]: 408 krdQLzzAeZU Chart Run: 43-1-4-5-7... This post-album single vaulted to the top in September and is yet to exit the top 10! Such a positive bop and definitely the best song from Lizzo... I would say ever!
October 9, 20222 yr Author #42. HISTORY - Joel Corry & Becky Hill Total Chart Points [YTD]: 412 okOHvVWYUkg Chart run: 6-4-11-16-17-21-38 HISTORY reached the top 5 and became Becky's 10th Top 10 on my chart, but it is one of her worst performing songs of the year with its short chart run.
October 9, 20222 yr Author 41. go - Cat Burns Total Chart Points [YTD]: 418 r-go07SLxlU Chart Run: 19-17-10-10-6-11-17-19-24-31-36-41-x-49-47-46 Cat Burns' viral 'go' reached #6 on my chart, and became one of the few long running singles that missed the top 5 this year, along with Beg For You, Shivers, 2Step and Numb Little Bug!

Seventeen Going Under - Sam Fender Total Chart Points [YTD]: 419 WAifgn2Cvo8 Chart Run: (37-13-16-13-11)-4-2-4-7-9-4-12-13-22-25-30-x9-50 Sam Fender's album title track, and smash single, reached the runner up spot in January of this year! (chart run in the brackets is from 2021)

Big Energy - Latto Total Chart Points [YTD]: 426 T8GpG8C0YzA Chart Run: 36-33-32-14-6-8-10-12-23-16-27-32 Latto's 2021 release blew up in 2022 after a remix with Mariah Carey & DJ Khaled, but the original version is the superior version imo, and that is the one that charted. It gave Latto a #6 peaking single!

Maisie's 3rd #1 of the year, Good Enough is completely different to her 2 other #1s of the year, a heart-wrenching piano track. It made Maisie one of the few artists to ever knock themselves off of #1, and tied her with Taylor Swift for most #1s (5) on the chart!

And despte only spending 1 week inside the Top 10, it is one of the longest running hits of the year!
